Job Title: Project ManagerJob DescriptionThe Project Manager leads multidisciplinary engineering projects from initial concept through commissioning and closeout. This role coordinates engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, logistics, and customer stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for customers and internal teams, providing leadership to project groups while managing risks, resources, budgets, schedules, and overall customer satisfaction.Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts that account for commercial, technical, legal, and regulatory requirements. • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria. • Lead project kick-off meetings and establish clear communication plans for internal teams and customers. • Coordinate all phases of project execution from concept through commissioning and closeout. • Monitor project progress against plans and implement corrective actions when deviations occur. • Manage project change requests, ensuring proper documentation, impact assessment, and approvals. • Conduct regular project review meetings and prepare comprehensive status reports for leadership and stakeholders. • Manage customer expectations regarding scope, schedule, cost, and risk, and maintain strong client relationships. • Coordinate communication between internal departments to ensure alignment and timely information flow. • Identify project risks, maintain a detailed risks and issues log, implement mitigation strategies, and escalate concerns to management when necessary. • Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety policies, Quality Management System requirements, and other organizational procedures. • Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and support internal and external project audits. • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within defined scope, and within approved budgets. • Manage multiple concurrent industrial and engineering projects with budgets ranging approximately from 100,000 to 6,000,000. • Interact effectively with multiple stakeholders, including internal teams and customer management, to drive successful project outcomes. • Work occasional overtime when required to meet critical project milestones and deliverables. Essential Skills
• Post-secondary engineering or other technical degree. • 5+ years of experience managing and/or leading multiple complex technical projects, ideally including engineering projects. • 5+ years of experience managing industrial projects. • Strong understanding of project management tools, techniques, and best practices. • Experience applying project management methodologies, including traditional/waterfall, Agile, and visual management approaches. • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. • Recent and relevant experience working with management systems. • Basic understanding of business principles and contracts. • Ability to quickly learn new tools and techniques and grasp unfamiliar technical concepts. • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to actively listen and communicate in ways that foster trust. • Demonstrated ability to use empathy to understand the needs of others and motivate teams effectively. • Proven capability to set a positive example that others willingly follow. • Ability to adapt easily to varied roles on teams, shifting from follower to leader as needed. • Skill in adjusting communication style and approach to best fit different situations and audiences. • Ability to excel in a self-directed work environment and influence across the organization. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize multiple concurrent projects. • Experience interacting with multiple stakeholders, including internal teams and customer management. Assets
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management certification is a strong asset. • Prior experience managing engineering projects and/or a technical experience in engineering. • Experience using Microsoft Project for planning and tracking. • Prior experience in the nuclear industry or other high-reliability or highly regulated environments. • Fluency in relevant technical and business communication. • High intrinsic motivation and the ability to work effectively in a flexible, self-directed team environment. • Interest in professional growth within a setting that offers room to develop skills and responsibilities. Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily based on site in an office environment, working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams. The position offers some flexibility for hybrid work depending on project status and individual performance. Work may occasionally require overtime to meet critical project deadlines. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and compliance with established Environmental, Health and Safety policies and a formal Quality Management System. Team members typically follow standard professional office attire and use modern productivity tools such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project to manage and track project activities. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $44.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
