Job Title: Civil EngineerJob DescriptionThis Civil Engineer role focuses on engineering analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations for natural gas, hydrocarbon, and industrial facilities. You will lead projects, oversee the creation of 3D models and engineering drawings, and ensure all designs comply with international, state, and industry codes and specifications. The position requires producing safe, complete, accurate, clear, compliant, constructable, and cost-effective structural solutions while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.Responsibilities
• Perform engineering analysis and design for structural steel and concrete foundations, ensuring safety, compliance, and constructability. • Serve as the lead project engineer, taking responsibility for project scope of work, budget, schedule, and communication of scope changes. • Delegate and oversee work performed by other engineers, drafting, and design personnel to ensure high-quality deliverables. • Manage the creation and review of 3D models and detailed engineering drawings for concrete and structural steel designs. • Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations, design drawings, technical documents, and engineering studies. • Develop and maintain site, architectural, concrete, and structural steel drawings that align with project requirements and standards. • Apply and follow relevant international, state, and industry codes and specifications, including AISC, ACI-318, IBC, and ASCE-7, in all design work. • Coordinate and exchange technical information with clients, inter-company service groups, architects, owners, vendors, and other third parties. • Communicate effectively with other project discipline leads to ensure alignment on technical issues and project objectives. • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to engineers, drafting staff, and design personnel within the department. • Use structural modeling and analysis software to support design decisions and validate engineering calculations. • Utilize Microsoft Office tools to prepare reports, calculations, documentation, and project communications. • Perform other related engineering duties as assigned to support successful project delivery. Essential Skills
• Proven experience in civil engineering with a focus on steel structures and concrete design. • Ability to perform and stamp engineering calculations as a Professional Engineer for structural steel and concrete designs, where licensure applies. • Strong in engineering analysis and design for industrial, natural gas, hydrocarbon, or heavy manufacturing facilities. • Thorough understanding of AISC, ACI-318, IBC, and ASCE-7 codes and standards. • Working knowledge of 3D modeling tools and structural modeling and analysis software, including AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and STAAD. • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and communication. • Ability to manage project scope, budget, and schedule while effectively communicating scope changes. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. • Solid analytical skills to interpret data, perform complex calculations, and make sound engineering decisions. • Capability to lead, delegate, and oversee engineering and design tasks within a project team. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in the natural gas industry is preferred, with consideration given to candidates from heavy manufacturing or related industrial sectors. • Experience as a Sr. engineer is preferred, though intermediate-level engineers with strong technical skills may also be considered. • Familiarity with industrial facility design and construction practices for steel and concrete structures. • Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, drafting staff, and design personnel. • Comfort working with multiple stakeholders, including architects, owners, vendors, and internal service groups. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in preparing calculations, drawings, and technical documentation. Work EnvironmentThis position is based in an office environment and requires working on-site five days per week. You will collaborate closely with engineering, drafting, and project teams, using tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, STAAD, and the Microsoft Office Suite on a daily basis. The role may involve coordination with natural gas and industrial facility stakeholders, and relocation support may be available for candidates who are moving to the area. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Derwent, OH. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.08/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
