Electrical Engineer (Substation) Location: Lake Mary, FL (Greater Orlando) Job Description We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer grads to join a growing Substation Engineering team in Lake Mary, FL. This position is ideal for recent graduates from an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program who are interested in power systems, utility infrastructure, and substation design.Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will support the design and engineering of high-voltage substations for utility and renewable energy clients across the United States. This role offers hands-on training, mentorship, and strong career growth opportunities within the power delivery industry. Responsibilities
• Support the design of high-voltage substations ranging from 69kV to 500kV. • Assist with physical layouts, grounding systems, protection and control systems, and electrical equipment arrangements. • Perform engineering calculations, including short-circuit studies, voltage drop analysis, and grounding calculations. • Develop and review one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and construction drawings. • Collaborate with civil, structural, environmental, and design teams to support project execution. • Assist with technical specifications, bills of material, and construction packages. • Support engineering reports, design calculations, and project documentation. • Participate in project meetings with engineers, project managers, and utility clients. • Maintain organized project records and adhere to quality assurance standards. • Learn and apply IEEE, NEC, and NESC standards to engineering designs. • Participate in technical training and mentorship programs. Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. • 0-2 years of electrical and design engineering experience. • Coursework/Track related to Power such as: • Power Systems Analysis • Power Systems Protection • Energy Delivery Systems • Power Lab
• Strong interest in power systems, utility engineering, and substation design. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment. • Internship, co-op, research, or capstone project experience related to: • Power Systems • Utilities • Renewable Energy • Transmission & Distribution • Substation Engineering
• Exposure to AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar engineering software. • Familiarity with NEC and NESC standards. • Experience with Revit, Civil 3D, Inventor, or other 3D modeling software. • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Mary, FL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
