Job Description: Biodiesel Technology Engineer-North America Region Position Summary Apply engineering principles to existing and new facilities, ranging from process optimization and troubleshooting to evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies. Ensure biodiesel process systems are designed, operated, maintained, and continuously improved to achieve world-class performance.
Position Overview • The Biodiesel Technology Engineer will serve as a key technical resource supporting ADM biodiesel manufacturing operations. This position drives process optimization, technology advancement, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives across biodiesel production facilities. • The role collaborates with operations, maintenance, engineering, and corporate technology teams to improve safety, reliability, product quality, yield, energy efficiency, and sustainability performance. Essential Job Responsibilities • Lead process safety and continuous improvement initiatives. • Benchmark facility performance against best-in-class biodiesel technologies. • Develop and maintain technology and capital project portfolios. • Evaluate and champion new process technologies and equipment. • Support advanced process control and digital optimization projects. • Provide technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis support. • Coach and mentor engineers and operations personnel. • Frequent travel (up to 50%) is required. Required Skills • Knowledge of biodiesel production technologies including esterification, pretreatment, purification, glycerin recovery, distillation, and reaction and separation processes. • Strong process engineering, data analysis, and problem-solving capabilities. • Demonstrated experience working with computer programs including CAD, Aspen, Excel. • Working knowledge of PFDs, P&IDs, and control narratives. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. • Demonstrated ability to work through technical and organizational challenges with patience and professionalism, while applying lessons learned from setbacks and failures to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Required Education • Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry, Renewable Fuels Technology, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Experience • Minimum two (2) years of experience in industrial process manufacturing, process engineering, or technology roles is required. Five (5) or more years of experience is preferred. • Experience in biodiesel, renewable fuels, vegetable oil processing, refining, or chemicals industry in a continuous manufacturing environment is preferred. : Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
