EHS Manager
Job Description: Role Summary: The EHS Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant operating environment at the beverage manufacturing plant. This role leads the development and implementation of the EHS management system, ensures compliance with national and Beijing local regulations, drives EHS KPIs, and oversees third-party services for wastewater treatment and waste management. The EHS Manager also ensures alignment with customer social responsibility standards, including IKEA IWAY and SMETA, and leads the EHS team to deliver continuous improvement across all environmental, health, and safety dimensions. Your Responsibilities 1. Safety Operating Environment & EHS KPIs: Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant operating environment across the plant. Develop, track, and report EHS KPIs (e.g., TRIR, LTIFR, near-miss reporting rate, environmental compliance rate) and ensure the plant achieves its EHS targets. 2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all applicable national EHS laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China and Beijing local regulations. Monitor regulatory updates and proactively adapt plant policies and practices to maintain compliance. 3. EHS Management System & Process Framework: Lead the development of the EHS process framework in accordance with ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 (formerly OHSAS 18001) standards and company directives. Support cross-area process integration, implementation of standards and systems, and drive the standardization of EHS processes. 4. EHS Training: Organize and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs covering safety, occupational health, environmental protection, emergency response, and regulatory updates for all plant personnel, including contractors and temporary workers. 5. EHS Audits & Inspections: Supervise and inspect the execution of EHS practices, including regular Job Cycle Checks (JCC), Safe Work Procedures (SWP) verification, permit-to-work compliance, and housekeeping audits. Perform internal EHS audits and lead cross-area accident prevention programs. 6. Incident & Near-Miss Management: Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for all EHS incidents and near-misses using structured methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D). Develop corrective and preventive action plans and monitor their implementation to closure. 7. Wastewater Treatment Management: Directly manage the third-party operation of the wastewater treatment station, ensuring effluent quality meets national discharge standards and agreed sewer acceptance specifications. Monitor treatment performance, review operational reports, and drive corrective actions when deviations occur. 8. Waste Management (Including Hazardous Waste): Manage third-party waste management services, including hazardous waste handling, storage, transportation, and disposal, ensuring full compliance with national and Beijing local regulations. Maintain complete waste management records, manifests, and audit trails. 9. Customer Social Responsibility Compliance: Ensure compliance with customer social responsibility and EHS audit requirements, including IKEA IWAY, SMETA (SEDEX), and other applicable customer codes of conduct. Prepare for and support third-party and customer audits, maintaining evidence and documentation. 10. Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Analyze EHS performance data and initiate continuous improvement projects to reduce incidents, minimize environmental impact, and enhance safety culture. Assist in EHS performance controlling, analysis, and reporting to senior management. 11. EHS Team Management: Lead, coach, and develop the EHS team; set performance goals, conduct appraisals, and foster a proactive safety culture. Coordinate EHS activities across departments and engage line management in safety ownership.
: 12. Other Duties: Perform other tasks and assignments as directed by the manager. Your Profile • Education: Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in Environment, Occupational Health & Safety (EOHS), Food Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or other related fields. • Experience: Over five years of working experience in EHS roles within the manufacturing industry, with solid knowledge of EHS system requirements (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001). • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Chinese national and Beijing local EHS regulations, hazardous waste management, and wastewater discharge standards. • Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills; meticulous and rigorous working style; efficient and decisive; able to work under high pressure. • Language: Fluent in English (written and spoken). • Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with a Registered Safety Engineer qualification or Registered Auditor for Food Safety / EHS are preferred. • Industry Experience: Beverage or FMCG industry experience is a plus.
