Manager Data Engineering
Job Description: ADM is seeking an experienced Manager for Data Engineering who is a player-coach. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role building and leading a high-performing team of developers capable of delivering high quality data solutions for a diverse set of internal customers. Strong technical acumen with modern data platforms, architectures and best practices is required with the ability to mentor less experienced developers and analysts. The ideal candidate has experience delivering work through Agile or SAFe.
Your Responsibilities: • Plan, design, and build multiple modern data products simultaneously, including data pipelines, data streams, data services, analytical data platforms, and AI-ready data products. • Lead the development of scalable data foundations that support reporting, advanced analytics, machine learning, generative AI, automation, and real-time decision-making. • Guide the implementation of machine learning and AI solutions, including data preparation, feature engineering, model development, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management. • Support the development and productionization of AI/ML use cases using platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and other cloud-based technologies. • Enable generative AI solutions, including large language model applications, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, vector search, AI agents, and enterprise knowledge solutions where appropriate. • Partner with data scientists, AI engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate business problems into practical and measurable AI solutions. • Establish reusable patterns for model serving, AI application integration, APIs, batch and real-time inference, and integration with enterprise systems. • Ensure data pipelines and platforms provide trusted, well-governed, secure, high-quality, and appropriately documented data for AI and analytics use cases. • Define and implement data and AI architectures that support scalability, resilience, performance, cost optimization, and maintainability. • Manage cross-team dependencies and work with technical leads and architects to develop effective solutions. • Apply software engineering practices to data and AI products, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, and production support.
: Your Profile: • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field • Typically requires minimum of 10+ years work experience in a large-scale, enterprise environment • Typically requires 8+ years of hands-on experience implementing data solutions in an Agile environment • Advanced experience with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, SAP Datasphere, SQL, Azure Data Factory, Python, PySpark, Power BI, SSIS or other cloud-based data systems • Advanced experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD • Advanced experience with database storage systems such as cloud, relational, mainframe, data lake, and data warehouse • Advanced experience building cloud ETL pipelines using code or ETL platforms utilizing database connections, APIs, or file-based • Advanced experience with data warehousing concepts and agile methodology • Advanced experience designing and coding data manipulations applying processing techniques to extract value from large, disconnected datasets • Requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, strong managerial skills, and the ability to drive innovation and operational excellence • Deep technical experience across multiple technologies, governance frameworks, data security and data platforms • Thought leader in organizations defining and implementing data mesh-based platforms and ingestion strategies to enable various data needs • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills • Ability to challenge the status quo and question “we’ve always done it this way” • Demonstrates initiative and leadership • Able to think critically and be solution focused • Strong interpersonal skills and able to work easily with business personnel • Works as well independently as within a team • High accountability with a demonstrated ability to deliver • Strong collaboration skills working with architecture, design, and development teams • Great organizational, time management and problem-solving skills • Possesses a professional demeanor
