About this role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the SmartSense R&D team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and evolution of SmartSense, Ascom's intelligent monitoring platform for healthcare and long-term care environments.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience building scalable frontend and backend solutions, a strong understanding of modern software architecture, and the ability to drive technical improvements across the full technology stack.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum 6 years of professional software development experience.

Strong experience with:

.NET / .NET Core

C#

TypeScript

React

HTML5 and CSS3

Node.js

Webpack

ASP.NETCore and RESTful Web APIs

Entity Framework

Microsoft SQL Server

Experience designing and implementing scalable web applications and distributed systems.

Strong knowledge of:

Object-Oriented Design (OOD)

SOLID principles

Design patterns

Clean Code practices

Domain-Driven Design (DDD)

Experience writing automated tests, including:

Unit tests

Integration tests

API tests

Experience working in Agile/Scrum development teams.

Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within international, cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:

Microservice architectures

Event-driven systems and messaging technologies

RabbitMQ or similar message brokers

Containerization using Docker

Kubernetes and cloud-native deployments

CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Azure DevOps or similar development platforms

Experience designing highly available, resilient, and scalable systems.

Knowledge of authentication and authorization technologies such as JWT, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.

Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

Experience working with healthcare, IoT, sensor-based, or real-time event processing systems is considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain SmartSense frontend and backend services.

Contribute to the evolution of SmartSense towards a scalable microservices and high-availability architecture.

Develop modern React-based user interfaces and REST APIs.

Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.

Ensure software quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration practices.

Collaborate with architects, product owners, QA engineers, and DevOps engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Drive continuous improvements in performance, scalability, maintainability, and security.
