Turing House School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant secondary school community. Are you a recent graduate considering a career in teaching? Turing House School is seeking a full-time Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our friendly and supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while making a real difference to young people’s lives. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers to support students’ learning, build their confidence, and develop your understanding of effective teaching and behaviour management. This role provides you with first-hand experience of school life and is an ideal stepping stone for those considering teacher training in the future.

Many of our Learning Support Assistants have successfully progressed into teacher training programmes, including salaried and PGCE routes, following their time in the role.

Job ProfileCore PurposeTo support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to achieve their best, promoting their wellbeing and engagement in all aspects of school life. This includes direct support, collaboration with staff and families, and assisting with reintegration or transitions where needed.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting curriculum delivery with individuals and small groupsAssessing and recording student progress and contributing to reportsAttending meetings, training, and parental consultationsSupporting student wellbeing and the pastoral systemParticipating in performance management processesMaintaining accurate records and providing exam support

Safeguarding

This role involves regulated activity with childrenAll staff must comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)All appointments are subject to safeguarding checks

Person SpecificationQualifications and Training

GCSE English & Maths (grade C/4 or above)Evidence of relevant professional developmentWillingness to undertake additional training

Experience

Experience working with children or young peopleSEN support experience is desirableExperience monitoring and recording progress
