In this exciting role, you'll:

Be a trusted advisor to managers and staff on all things learning and development. Lead inspiring training and development initiatives that are in line with the new NHS Leadership & Management Framework: Leadership and Management Framework Deliver engaging, impactful learning experiences--from engaging training delivery, to team building. Provide support Trust wide through the delivery of our People strategies and projects.

Main duties of the job

You will drive the continuous professional development of our staff through the identification and provision of learning and development opportunities. You will actively support a culture of learning and personalised, impactful development.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Our ideal candidate will hold a recognised and relevant learning qualification. You will have knowledge of current issues and future trends in learning. You will have demonstrable experience of delivering high-quality learning and facilitation with the ability and drive to develop and deliver improvement to learning and strategies that support this. You will have developed strength in supporting teams and have experience of embedding a learning culture across organisations.

Skills / Competencies Essential

Highly developed coaching skills Able to communicate complex and sensitive information to staff at all levels of the organisation and to external agencies, using a range of techniques Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and explain complex information clearly Effective presentation and organisational skills Ability to negotiate and influence persuasively, commanding confidence and respect from colleagues, staff and representatives Strong analytical, problem-solving, reasoning and decision-making skills Ability to design, deliver and facilitate training and learning interventions Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations appropriately Strong management, motivation and leadership skills Able to work to tight deadlines and pay close attention to detail Able to prioritise and manage own workload, proactive and self-motivated Flexible, highly motivated and able to project a professional image Demonstrable compassionate and inclusive leadership Experience in the application of HR processes Demonstrable experience of line management responsibilities

Qualification and Knowledge Essential

Masters-level qualification or equivalent experience, or willingness to work towards Recognised coaching qualification CIPD registration, or willingness to work towards Evidence of relevant continuing professional development (CPD) Knowledge and understanding of key issues within the NHS and/or other public sector organisations

Experience Essential

Experience of providing advice and guidance on Learning & Development Experience of developing and delivering learning interventions to meet specific needs Experience of managing organisation-wide processes (such as appraisal) and monitoring continued performance against required standards Full driving licence and able to travel across the Trust footprint
