About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Medical Secretary in Respiratory Medicine at Good Hope Hospital.

The post holder will be a key member of the team and is expected to provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for patients/relatives and carers, have a confident and calm manner with good communications skills. The post holder will be expected to appropriately manage confidential, complex and sensitive information.

You will support consultants and ILD nurses, book appointments, manage diaries, type letters and support your colleagues and clinicians during times of annual leave and sickness.

The hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am -- 16.30pm.

Main duties of the job To provide secretarial support to consultants and their teams with particular responsibility for audio typing clinic letters, discharge summaries, general copy typing of correspondence, minute taking and reports. To provide administrative support to the department/Clinical Team. The post holder will provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for patients/relatives and carers, undertaking work under the direction of the Medical Secretary Supervisor

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

*Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4 *Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment

Desirable

*AMSPAR Certificate/equivalent qualification or equivalent knowledge of medical terminology

Experience Essential

*Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience *Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook) *Experience of using IT systems

Desirable

*Experience of working in a busy environment *Experience of working in Healthcare
