Job summary
We are currently recruiting for an Executive Support Officer on a full time, temporary basis from 7 December 2026 to 6 January 2028.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, providing a comprehensive, high-level, professional and confidential administration service to the Executive Director of Finance.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into how a large NHS organisation operates at executive level. You will work closely with senior leaders and partners across the wider health and care system, building valuable experience in executive support, corporate governance, stakeholder engagement and service improvement.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive, professional and confident working in a fast-paced environment. You will also need to be an excellent communicator and team player who can build positive relationships, work collaboratively with colleagues, provide support and cover when required, and contribute to a high-performing Corporate Governance team.
The successful candidate will be open to embracing digital ways of working and have experience in using tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency, streamline administrative processes and support continuous service improvement.
Main duties of the job
Provide comprehensive, high-level and confidential executive support to the Director, including the proactive management of complex diaries and inboxes, drafting and proofreading reports, papers and correspondence, and coordinating day-to-day priorities.The post holder will take responsibility for the full administration of meetings, including agenda planning, paper collation, meeting organisation, minute-taking, action tracking, monitoring progress against agreed deadlines, and ensuring actions and outcomes are followed through to completion.
The role will also contribute to the development of more efficient and effective ways of working. In addition, the post holder will provide governance support by covering the administration and minute-taking of Committees and other corporate meetings as required, and will provide resilience and cross-cover arrangements for their designated buddy and wider Corporate Governance team to ensure continuity of service.

Qualifications / Knowledge Essential
Educated to degree level/or equivalent experience in business administration
Skills / Competencies Essential
Advance Keyboard skills and experience of typing from dictation / audio typing Proactive approach and able to identify and suggest areas where improvements or developments can be made based on feedback or intuition Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Experience Essential
A minimum of three years providing high-level, efficient Business Support within a corporate environment. Experience of complex diary and email management, being able to proactively manage and coordinate conflicting priorities, using initiative based on knowledge and understanding of your director[s] objectives and priorities. Experience of supporting director level meetings including production of minutes. Experience in preparing reports, action plans and forward planning
Desirable
Experience of supporting an Executive / Board Director level position.
