Main duties of the job

As a Bank GP, you will provide high-quality primary care services on a flexible, sessional basis, supporting the practice during periods of increased demand, annual leave and other planned or unplanned absences.

Responsibilities include:

Delivering face-to-face, telephone and video consultations Assessing, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions Prescribing safely and effectively in line with current guidance and best practice Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Providing high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse patient population Adhering to clinical governance standards, organisational policies and professional requirements Participating in mandatory training and appraisal requirements as appropriate

Banbury Cross Health Centre is owned and operated by Principal Medical Limited (PML), which works in partnership with the NHS to deliver primary care services in GP practices and community settings.

Founded in 2004 as a not-for-profit organisation by local GPs, PML was established to enable healthcare professionals to develop and deliver innovative services at scale. Today, 70% of GP practices in Oxfordshire and 22% in Northamptonshire are associated with the Federation.

PML is the largest GP Federation in Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire, serving nearly 800,000 patients. We believe local providers are best placed to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care that meets community needs.

Patient Care

Make autonomous, professional decisions on presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals. Assess health needs of patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions. Provide screening, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care. Develop individualised care plans in consultation with patients, aligned with current protocols. Maintain clear, accurate, and contemporaneous medical records. Professional Standards

Undertake all duties expected of a GP in primary care, per regulatory and standard-setting organisations. Deliver evidence-based, patient-centred, and equitable care. Ensure safe prescribing and responsible use of resources. Teamwork & Collaboration

Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team and with external services. Share knowledge, support colleagues, and manage clinical risk collaboratively.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and licence to practise Inclusion on the NHS GP Performers List

Experience Essential

Strong clinical decision-making skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Commitment to high-quality patient-centred care Ability to work independently and adapt to changing service demands
