About this role

Job summary Providing domestic and catering services at The Valentine Centre The Facilities Assistant is a multi-skilled role which will provide an effective, patient-focused Facilities Service (FM) in the delivery of cleaning, portering and catering

Main duties of the job

We have 3 x 15 hour vacancies based at the Valentine Centre within our Estates and Facilities Directorate. Shifts are between 4pm and 7pm Monday to Friday. Duties will include the preparation and regeneration of patient meals at ward level on a daily basis but will also involve providing an effective, patient-focused cleaning and domestic service, including patient laundry service to meet NHS cleanliness standards as a minimum within designated patient / non-patient areas within the Trust.

As a Facilities Assistant you will provide a comprehensive cleaning service for in-patient and community sites as assigned

Responsible for general cleaning duties and will be carried out in all areas including clinical, sanitary and administration areas, in accordance with the cleaning schedule. The post holder will ensure that Infection Control, COSHH and Health and Safety procedures are always followed.

Main duties will include

To ensure the correct use of cleaning materials. Ensure the correct use, cleaning and storage of cleaning equipment. Ensure the correct storage of all cleaning and disposable items when issued Dispose of all categories of waste safely and in accordance with Trust guidelines and ensure that equipment is stored correctly Replenish all disposables, soaps, etc. as required. Collect refuse and store at designed collection points. Ensure the correct use of mechanical cleaning equipment including floor polisher. Ensure own cleaning stock is maintained. Complete cleaning schedules on a daily basis Benefits

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

General education to GCSE level or equivalent including English, Maths Able to understand verbal and written instruction Basic Food Hygiene Level 2

Desirable

NVQ level 2 equivalent experience or willingness to work towards NVQ accreditation in customer services.

Experience Essential

Experience of working in a restaurant environment. Planning and organisation of daily / weekly work tasks/activities. Awareness of safe working practices Understand how to prevent the spread of infections. Good personal hygiene practices Ability to communicate effectively Ability to manage own workload Demonstrate good customer service skills Experience of using cleaning materials and equipment Experience with COSHH and HACCP Knowledge of IPC process within a Catering Hospital Service

Desirable

Previous experience of working in the hospital/health care environment Experience of serving food and beverages on a tray service Working within tight portion controls Experience of using industrial equipment/ machinery
