Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced imaging professional to join the Radiology Care Group as Interim Head of Imaging Services.
Working alongside the Clinical Director and Radiology General Manager, the post holder will provide senior operational and professional leadership for clinical imaging services across the Trust. They will lead and support the non-medical clinical imaging workforce, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality and patient-centred services.
The role has a broad portfolio encompassing operational performance, workforce leadership, clinical governance and IR(ME)R, service improvement, education and professional development. The successful candidate will provide visible and inclusive leadership while supporting the continued development and transformation of imaging services across the organisation.
Main duties of the job
The Interim Head of Imaging Services will provide senior operational and professional leadership for clinical imaging services across all Trust sites, working in partnership with the Clinical Director and Radiology General Manager.
The post holder will lead the non-medical clinical imaging workforce, with responsibility for workforce planning and development, operational performance, demand and capacity, and the effective use of imaging resources.
A key responsibility will be providing professional leadership for clinical governance, quality and patient safety, including the implementation and ongoing management of IR(ME)R and oversight of clinical and operational risk.
The role will lead service improvement and transformation, including new models of care, digital innovation and workforce development, while contributing to financial sustainability, business and capital planning.
The post holder will provide visible, inclusive leadership and represent Radiology across the Trust and with external partners.

Operational Leadership
Provide operational leadership for the Trust's clinical imaging services across all Trust sites, ensuring thedelivery of safe, effective, high-quality and patient-centred services. Lead the operational management of the non-medical clinical imaging workforce, promoting a consistent,standardised and collaborative approach to service delivery across all imaging modalities and sites. Work in partnership with the Clinical Director and Radiology General Manager to deliver the Care Group'sstrategic, operational, workforce and financial objectives. Lead demand and capacity planning across clinical imaging services, ensuring the effective utilisation ofworkforce, equipment and facilities to optimise patient access, productivity and service performance. Monitor operational performance against agreed local and national standards, implementingimprovement plans where required to support the delivery of Trust objectives. Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of operational policies, standard operatingprocedures and clinical pathways to support safe, effective and efficient service delivery. Support the planning and delivery of service developments, business cases, capital programmes andnew models of care to meet current and future service requirements. Provide visible leadership across clinical imaging services, fostering a culture of compassion,professionalism, accountability, continuous improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration. Deputise for the Clinical Director or Radiology General Manager on operational and professional mattersas appropriate. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the responsibilities and grading of the post.

Essential and Desirable Essential
BSc Diagnostic Radiography (or equivalent) and current HCPC registration Significant senior operational and professional leadership experience within a large acute NHS organisation Experience of leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple imaging modalities and/or sites Experience of professional leadership of the non-medical clinical imaging workforce Experience of workforce planning, recruitment, establishment management and organisational change Experience of demand and capacity planning and managing operational performance within imaging services Experience of leading service improvement, transformation and quality improvement programmes Experience of financial management, budgetary responsibility, business planning and/or business case development Experience of clinical governance, risk management, audit, incident investigation and patient safety Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic imaging services, including IR(ME)R and other relevant regulatory/professional requirements Evidence of effective senior leadership, communication, influencing and decision-making skills, including the ability to lead change and work across organisational/professional boundaries
Desirable
Master's degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience Knowledge/experience of national imaging strategy, GIRFT, Community Diagnostic Centres and imaging networks Knowledge/experience of digital healthcare, imaging informatics and emerging technologies, including AI
