Relief Porter - Two positions
This is a relief position, working a variety of shifts to fill gaps in the rota - you will work a 7.5hr day Mondays to Fridays, your shift may fall anywhere between the hours of 8am and midnight at the direction of the Porter manager. You must be extremely flexible and able to change your hours of work, often at short notice, in response to changing circumstances.
We have an opportunity for a reliable, enthusiastic person, with get-up-and-go, and a jump-to-it, can-do attitude.
You must be a friendly, helpful "people person", able and willing to take on varied tasks in changing circumstances. You must be positive, self-motivated and physically fit.
PLEASE NOTE: You MUST be over 18 years of age to apply for these positions and will be required to complete and Enhanced DBS check as part of the recruitment process. You must be extremely flexible and able to change your hours of work, often at short notice, in response to changing circumstances.
Main duties of the job
As a Porter you will be do the fetching and carrying of supplies, furniture, blood, samples, the pushing and pulling of waste bins, laundry cages, and most importantly the careful, compassionate and sensitive movement of patients around the hospital. All these tasks are vital to making the hospital run smoothly. This is a physically demanding role, you will be on your feet for many hours of the day. This is an enjoyable and rewarding job that makes a real difference to people's lives.
Applicants will be expected to perform the porter role in all relevant departments (Pool room, Post room, Emergency Department, Operating Theatres, Radiology, Acute Assessment Unit, Pharmacy).
You must have excellent communication skills and have experience of dealing with a diverse cross section of the community. You must be ready to provide a professional, courteous and flexible Portering service, and align yourself to the Trust' core values:
