About this role

The University of the West of England (UWE) is seeking a qualified barrister or solicitor with practice experience in England and Wales to join Bristol Law School as a permanent Lecturer in Law, helping to strengthen our growing Bar Training Course. A key priority will be to teach, assess, and support students on the criminal parts of the full-time and part-time Bar Training Course. You will also undertake module leadership (post-probation), supervise dissertations and research projects, provide academic and pastoral support as a personal tutor, and collaborate with colleagues to advance learning and teaching initiatives. Working closely with an experienced and passionate team at our Frenchay campus, you will participate in student outreach and recruitment activities, help maintain an innovative curriculum, and enjoy a better work-life balance compared to traditional legal practice through flexible teaching opportunities.

We are looking for an innovative, inclusive, and collaborative legal professional with current or previous practice experience in criminal subjects in England and Wales. Higher Education teaching experience is desirable but not essential, alongside strong communication skills, a student-centred approach, and a commitment to high ethical standards. This is an exciting opportunity to share your real-world expertise, inspire the next generation of legal professionals, and grow your career in a supportive academic community.
