The Broadway Surgery are looking for an enthusiastic addition to join our reception team following a long-standing employee moving onto pastures new. The location for this post will be The Broadway Surgery The successful applicant will be highly efficient and organised with excellent computer and communication skills, both oral and written. You will require good interpersonal skills and flexibility to tackle the different scenarios which may arise. Keyboard/computer skills essential. Applicants must have a flexible approach to working and be prepared to work additional hours, as and when required, to help cover periods of staff shortage. Previous NHS experience is essential. Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist/ admin post
Opening up and locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols
Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system Processing face to face and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring calls are dealt with in the appropriate manner
Effective care navigation of patient enquiries being able to appropriately sign post patients to the most appropriate clinician or service and identifying which patients need a GP appointment, nurse appointment and which can be dealt with administratively
Monitoring the flow of patients through the waiting room
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures
Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
Using AccuRX texting system to send links and messages to patients as per practice protocols.
Keeping the reception area and waiting area free from obstructions and clutter.
About us
Our practice has just over 5800 patients. We have 1 GP partner and 2 salaried GPs. We also have 1 Nurse and 1 Healthcare Assistant as well as a range of ARRS staff from our PCN including a Clinical Pharmacist, Social Prescriber, Care Co-ordinator and First Contact Physiotherapist. Many of our staff have worked here for many years and we are a close-knit friendly community of workers who are always willing to help each other to deliver the best patient care. We are a training practice so we also host GP Registrars

Actioning emails from doctors and nurses or other members of the team and tasks on the clinical system
Taking messages and passing on information to the relevant person in a timely manner
Monitoring the flow of patients through the waiting room
Dealing with prescription requests and queries in accordance with Practice guidelines
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures
Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
Using AccuRX texting system to send links and messages to patients as per practice protocols.
Proactively using prompts to engage patients in conversation to book health needs such as smear test due, baby imms.
Deal with samples in the appropriate way
Taking payment for and recording of non NHS work
Keeping the reception area and waiting area free from obstructions and clutter.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Experience of dealing with the general public Ability to effectively communicate Competent IT skills You must be able to pass a DBS check and be fully vaccinated according to NHS guidelines
Desirable
NHS experience, preferably in a GP Practice
