Job summary
The Clinical Housekeeper post will provide on-going support and assistance to the midwifery staff by performing assigned tasks involving indirect patient care; this will include overseeing the equipment and environment. They will work across all areas of the maternity service, labour ward, inpatient wards, birth centre and antenatal clinic, and community services based on site. The post holder will ensure the wards and patient areas are comfortable, clean, well-stocked and welcoming.
The post holder will be working closely with the staff midwives / deputy matron/ matrons to ensure the ward is organised with a high standard of cleanliness. They will complete required cleaning audits, liaise with facilities to ensure the wards well maintained, and liaise with procurement to ensure equipment is serviced and available for staff to use.
Main duties of the job
-To monitor the cleaning duties in accordance with the ward schedules and procedures of the area and take action to rectify any faults this will include the post holder undertaking emergency cleaning.-Ensure Tendable audits are performed as scheduled and results are shared with clinical teams-Keep notice boards updated and tidy and free from clutter.-To carry out daily temperature checks of fridges and drug storerooms and escalate if temperatures deviate from normal values-To record and action request for maintenance and to monitor progress of jobs and report to the ward the situation. Liaise with Estates/facilities as necessary.
-To liaise with the stock ordering personnel to order the stock-Check supplies of clinical forms, blood vials etc. and order if necessary and keep stock room tidy. Stock up as necessary.-Basic computer tasks following training

Education/Qualification Essential
GCSE A-C English and Math's or equivalent qualification. NVQ Level 2 Food Hygiene, Cleaning Commitment to undertake in-house training e.g PECOS

Skills and Ability Essential
Approachable manner with good interpersonal skills Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high standards of service. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of the inpatient areas IT/ Computer skills Ability to notice and address cleanliness issues promptly and accurately.
Desirable
Work effectively in teams, appreciating the roles of other staff and agencies involved in the care of patients Previous experience working in a maternity or health care setting NHS.
