Position Description:

The Assistant Superintendent acts as an important supplement to the Superintendent group, who act as primary leaders and managers of field construction on a project. The Assistant Superintendent works closely with each Superintendent to ensure exacting completion of many build-related oversight tasks, while learning the deeper skills of superintending.

Responsibilities:

• Schedule, attend, document, and follow up on inspections

• Perform client walkthroughs

• Perform solar blocking layout

• Set up SolarEdge DAS for all projects

• Commission systems

• Troubleshoot string issues after commissioning

• Assist in closing out jobs

• Attend PTO inspections with utility

• Manage weekly tailgate meetings (from template)

• Manage and update travel stipend tracker

• Plan, coordinate, facilitate material lifts (including rigging, radio, etc.)

• Fill in for supers on absence/leave

• Work towards becoming a super

• Setup initial project folders on G drive

• Review daily job logs and photos for adherence

• Review field hours for accuracy and timeliness

• Function as safety officer while overseeing active sites

• Perform QC checks on build sites

• Document installation process and create training materials

Qualifications:

• Management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

• Proven experience managing work sites and crew members including providing appropriate action and coaching to improve behavior and/or performance.

• Previous experience teaching Installers the basic practices of PV preferred.

• Knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems and National Electric Code preferred.

• Ability to commission PV systems and troubleshoot common problems (i.e. ground faults, polarity).

• Basic carpentry skills.

• OSHA 10-hour training or equivalent

• Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work assignments

• Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft office suite programs

• Ability to work in extreme environments (hot sun, light rain, crawl spaces or attics, steep roofs in a harness).

• Licensed, or willingness to become licensed, to drive forklift, scissor and boom lifts.

• Current CA driver license with acceptable driving record.

• Ability to lift at least 75 pounds; comfortable climbing ladders and working at unusual heights.

• Four-year college degree or equivalent preferred.
