Job purpose
Reporting to the COO, the Production Manager is responsible for all operations, set ups, adjustments on his/her equipment, and general labor on the production line. He/she is also responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations of the production floor. Duties include, but are not limited to: operating process machinery and equipment; portioning ingredients; prepping pans and trays; hand-scaling ingredients; making boxes; stacking pallets; cleaning and sanitation; washing dishes; effective and respectful communication with team members and Line Supervisor. This is a fast-paced food production environment with hourly and daily goals that must be met, and a heavy emphasis on manual work. Food safety and emphasis on Good Manufacturing Practices are of utmost importance.
Duties and responsibilities
The position requires an employee to perform essential functions of the job, including but not limited to the following duties:
• Prep trays and pans, portion ingredients, move racks of product, remove product from pans, make boxes, pack product into boxes, tape cases, stack cases, and more.
• Participate in dishwashing duties (running dish machines, manually washing small wares, pans, etc.).
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (food safety) guidelines and hygiene practices.
• Operate all equipment in a safe and timely manner (our process is primarily manual with machine-assistance).
• Inspect product at all stages to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Participate in equipment and area cleaning in a safe and timely manner.
• Locate and retrieve raw materials and packaging.
• Pull/push racks of in-process and finished product.
• Participate in operator-based machine maintenance and care.
• Participate in training programs.
• Safely use and dispose of cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Responsible for maintaining company food safety programs during 2nd shift
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
Previous management experience is required.
Previous experience in a food related environment required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Must be able to read, write, and understand instructions, warnings, labels and postings in English effectively.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
Records maintenance skills.
Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
Physical requirements
The position requires that an employee be capable of the following:
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 70 lbs. on an occasional basis.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work well with others in a team atmosphere.
Must be able to stand, walk, climb, reach, lift, carry, pull, push, grasp, stoop, squat, bend and stretch as needed throughout the shift.
Withstand extreme heat or cold.
Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks - primarily manual tasks - at a fast pace in a standing position for the entire shift.
Must be willing to participate in all tasks needed to get the job done - including dishwashing and clean-up/sanitation.
