Job summary
The role of the Outpatient Lead Nurse is to provide leadership along with operational oversight for nursing services within the outpatient department. You will ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-focused care while leading, with the support of the Outpatient Manager you will be assisting in developing the outpatient nursing team. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities to maintain high standards of care and service delivery.
Main duties of the job
Lead and support the Outpatient nursing team, promoting a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.Assist the Outpatient Manager in coordinating staffing levels and clinic schedules to ensure safe and effective service provision.Mentor, coach, and develop team members, supporting the Outpatient Manager with appraisals, training, and professional growth.Provide clinical support and, where required, deliver direct patient care. Ensure high standards of patient assessment, treatment, and health education.Promote adherence to best practice, policies, and clinical guidelines. Act as a role model, upholding professional standards and patient dignity.

Duties and responsibilities
As Outpatients Team Leader, you will provide visible clinical leadership and operational oversight for nursing services within the outpatient department. Working closely with the Outpatient Manager, you will help ensure the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality care while supporting the ongoing development of the nursing team.

Providing day-to-day leadership and support to the outpatient nursing team, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement Supporting the Outpatient Manager with workforce planning, clinic coordination and safe staffing levels in a high-volume department Coaching, mentoring and developing team members, including supporting appraisals, training and professional development Providing hands-on clinical support and direct patient care when required Ensuring consistently high standards of patient assessment, care delivery and health education Promoting compliance with policies, procedures, clinical guidelines and best practice Acting as a role model, maintaining professional standards, patient dignity and safety at all times Who we're looking for
NMC registered nurse with a valid pin and no restrictions Essential: Significant experience working within an outpatient setting Confident leading teams in a busy clinical environment Up to date with mandatory training, including infection control and health & safety Self-motivated, organised and able to work with minimal supervision Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective professional relationships Passionate about developing others and maintaining high clinical standards Flexible approach to working patterns Excellent organisational skills Strong leadership skills Strong teaching skills Flexible approach to work and working patterns
