About this role

Job summary

Thorneloe Lodge is looking for a Pharmacy Techinician to join our team.

You will work as an integral part of our team , supporting safe , effective and effcient medicines management across our patient population. You will work alongside our clinical pharmacist and other members of the pharmacy team from the PCN.

You will closely with our Gps and admin team to stremline clinical processes and contribute to high quality primary care

Main duties of the job Medicines Management & Clinical Support

Conduct medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge, outpatient appointments, and new patient registrations

Support repeat prescription processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to practice protocols

Review medication queries from patients, community pharmacies, escalating clinical issues appropriately

Support deprescribing initiatives and prescribing audits under pharmacist or GP guidance

Blood Monitoring & Safety ProcessesTrack and manage required blood tests for highrisk medications e.g., DMARDs, anticoagulants, lithium

Ensure compliance with safety alerts, MHRA guidance, and practice protocols

Patient-Facing SupportProvide clear, supportive information to patients about prescriptions, medication changes, and monitoring requirement

Operational & Administrative DutiesMaintain accurate and uptodate patient medication records

Support the management of repeat prescribing systems, including synchronisation and reducing waste

Contribute to quality improvement projects, audits, and data collection for QOF, and local incentive schemes

Thorneloe Lodge Surgery has around 11700 patients, we are located just outside the city centre of worcester in a Grade 2 Listed building. We haved 3 Gp Partners, 4 Salaried Gps, a strong nursing & clinical pharmacist team, with support from reception and admin.

Medicines Management & Clinical Support

Support repeat prescription processing, ensuring accuracy and adherence to practice protocols

Review medication queries from patients, community pharmacies, escalating clinical issues appropriately

Support prescribing initiatives and prescribing audits under pharmacist or GP guidance, such as antibiotics

Blood Monitoring & Safety Processes

Track and manage required blood tests for highrisk medications e.g DMARDs, anticoagulants, lithium

Monitor results, flag abnormalities, and ensure timely followup by the clinical team

Ensure compliance with safety alerts, MHRA guidance, and practice protocols

Patient-Facing Support

Provide clear, supportive information to patients about prescriptions, medication changes, and monitoring requirements

Handle prescription queries and requests directly

Operational & Administrative Duties

Maintain accurate and uptodate patient medication records

Support the management of repeat prescribing systems, including synchronisation and reducing waste

Contribute to quality improvement projects, audits, and data collection for QOF, and local incentive schemes

Attend a formal appraisal with your line manger every year.

Maintain a clean tidy effective working area at all times.

Undertake all mandatory training

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Experience in working in a Primary Care Setting

Desirable

Experience of working in a Primary Care setting Undersatnding of QOF & Analyse RX Abtrace

Qualifications Essential

Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
