Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for individuals aged 16 and over interested in starting a career in healthcare.
The Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship is a developmental role working alongside clinical staff to provide high quality care to patients while completing a recognised qualification. The training programme integrates both academic and work based learning through close collaboration with the Trust and education provider.
The outcome of the apprenticeship is to equip candidates with the specific knowledge, skills and capabilities to progress to a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker role

Main duties of the job
To deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a registered nurse (or other registered professional) with a focus on promoting patient centered healthcare and promote independence.
Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values
Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual
Work collaboratively with the team around them to develop own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills.
By the end of the apprenticeship develop the ability to work without direct supervision and deliver care independently
Key responsibilities include;
supporting patients with daily activities such as washing, dressing and eating maintain patients privacy and dignity monitor and record basic observations assist nursing staff with clinical duties communicate effectively with patients, families and the healthcare team

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GCSE A* - D or Grade 3 in English Literature/Language or equivalent Functional Skills Level 1 or above GCSE A* - D or Grade 3 in Mathematics or equivalent Functional Skills Level 1 or above
Experience Essential
Experience in working or volunteering in a customer service or customer facing role Understanding of holistic care Understand and adherence to the confidential nature of work Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of the HCSW role

Experience of working in a health or social care setting Computer literate
Other Essential
Able to assist others with the delivery of care to patients including toileting and personal care Personal physical contact with patients Dealing will body fluids and odours whilst providing person centred care to patients
