Job summary As a Maintenance Operative at Avery Healthcare, you'll be a crucial part of ensuring the seamless operation of Seagrave House Care Home in Corby. This permanent, hands-on role involves maintaining both the building and its grounds, engaging in routine tasks and repairs across varied domains including electrical, plumbing, and construction. You'll work five shifts over seven days, making a real difference in residents' lives by helping create a safe, comfortable environment. Main duties of the job In this important role, your main responsibility will be to ensure that the facility's buildings and grounds are kept in prime condition by performing various maintenance tasks and services checks. Your duties will include general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, both indoors and out, supporting new residents in setting up their rooms as desired, and advising on the ordering of maintenance supplies. Youll also contribute to maintaining health and safety standards, participate in an on-call emergency service rota, and undertake any required re-decoration tasks to uphold the home's standards. Your focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.
Other responsibilitieswillinclude:
Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home. Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish. Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome. Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods. Providingout of hours emergency service,participatingin the on-call rota.

Our ideal candidatemust:
Have a minimum of one years experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade. Hold a full driving licence. Have knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments. Be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Qualifications Essential
The ideal candidate should have at least one year's experience in a general maintenance or handy person role, or hold a professional qualification in a trades field. A full driving licence is required, alongside knowledge of health and safety protocols including Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments. Adaptability and flexibility to manage responsibilities at short notice are also essential for success in this role.
