JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Monitor the performance of other vessels by regular follow-ups and secure an on-arrival berth for own vessels to meet the principals’ requirement. • Ensure timely, attentive and responsible communication with principals and customers to maintain standards. • Fulfill the vessels allocations by informing the ISC locations in order to meet the budgets. • Preparation of accurate container declarations by proper updating of the local computer system in order to report same to vessel operator/terminals in a timely manner. • Coordinating and reporting to the respective authorities to facilitate smooth vessel berthing at Port of Colombo. • Board the vessel to coordinate with vessel command and port authority for safe and fast cargo operations, ensuring principal and customer satisfaction. • Discharge/load all planned containers/Cargo by coordinating with Terminals/Ship operator to meet customer satisfaction and company goals. • Ensure smooth TS connection by coordinating with Principals/Feeder operators/Origin port agents/Terminals/ITT providers & coordinating depts. to meet head office requirements and budgeted revenues. • Follow the vessel checklist by issuing timely reports, attending to requirements and maintaining accurate records to meet company quality standards and ensure error-free operations. • Prepare and submit Terminal Departure Report (TDR) and Loading Advice accurately and on time using vessels’ operational details to ensure all parties are aware of vessel situations and meet Company/principal requirements. • Build excellent business relationships with Port Authority/Terminals and Customers through visits/entertainments to maximize Company support. • Pass all invoices within stipulated time frames by accurately checking charges, supporting documents and debiting instructions to avoid penalties/disputes, improve cash flows and maintain company image/quality. • Achieve Operation department-related KPIs set by principals through accurate/timely system updates to be recognised as one of the best agents in the principals’ network. • Maintain ISO standards by properly following quality system processes and work instructions to avoid non-conformities affecting service quality to principals and customers. • Adhere to the operations strategic plans by meeting the requirements of it in order to maintain requirements. • Consult with Operations Manager/Asst. Manager and attend to special vessel arrangements such as bunkering, provisions, cash to master, ship’s mail, crew changes, packages/spare parts and sludge removal as per vendor guidelines and legal requirements to ensure principal satisfaction and local agent compliance. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION
• Bachelor’s degree approved by UGC or equivalent professional qualification with minimum one year experience in a shipping line will be an added advantage.
• 6 passes at GCE or London O/L with "C" for English and "A, B or C" pass for Mathematics AND
• Minimum 2 passes for A/L's OR successful completion of UGC approved A/L equivalent foundation course with minimum 4 years’ experience.
• Good communication skills with fluency in English language (written and oral).
• Holds a Driving license.
• Ability to think and perform independently.
