Position Summary

The Safety Manager manages environmental, safety, and health policies, procedures, and programs to create a safe work environment with a focus on preventing injury/illness and property damage to our employees and the general public. Supports Management and Supervisors with resources to identify our safety climate within our culture and pursues continuous Improvement opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

40% Management

Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments.Provides the project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirms the project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on-premises or at project site locations. Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.Creates annual and long-term plans for the safety department.

30% Compliance

Develops safety and health policies and proceduresAudits Safety Department (Monthly reviews of claim files, frequency and quality of audits conducted, etc.)Analyzes and interprets safety stats and reports to managementDevelops leading and lagging indicators for safety metricsReviews claims and communicates information and progress with CRH Claims Management, Legal, Insurance Carrier, defense attorneys, and Project Team

20% Operations

Conducts field safety audits and site visits to evaluate conditions and exposures.On-call incident response (24hrs) - either coaches, responds or dispatches a member of the department to respondConduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention

5% Business Relations

Serves as a safety representative for Industrial clients

5% other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma

Required Experience

Three years of experience in safety or related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :

Advanced:

Written and oral communication skillsProblem-analysis and problem-solving skillsAbility to work well with others at all levels of the organizationAbility to work under pressureInterpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Proficient:

Organizational & time management skillsWorking knowledge of and proficiency with a variety of computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education :

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field

Preferred Experience :

Five (5) years of experience in construction or industrial experience in safety.
