Project Overview:
Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. Job Summary:
The Lead Concrete Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, planning, coordination, and execution of concrete construction operations across assigned project areas. This position serves as the senior field leader for concrete activities and is accountable for ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality execution of concrete works in accordance with design, schedule, budget, project procedures, inspection and testing requirements, and quality standards. In addition, the Lead Concrete Superintendent provides leadership, training, career development, and oversight to multiple Concrete Superintendents. Major Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to multiple Concrete Superintendents, General Foremen, Foremen, Craft Professionals, and concrete field teams. Establish concrete execution strategies, priorities, work plans, crew sequencing, placement sequencing, access planning, and workface readiness across assigned project areas. Determine workforce requirements and support development of construction methods, schedules, manning material requirements, tool requirements, and equipment requirements utilizing installation work packages related to concrete activities. Coordinate concrete work activities with Field Engineering, Project Controls, Quality, Procurement, Subcontracts, adjacent disciplines, subcontractors, construction management, and client representatives as directed. Review project controls information related to progress, installed quantities, cost, schedule, productivity performance, forecast inputs, and concrete placement status; support recovery planning when execution deviates from project objectives. Ensure concrete construction operations comply with approved design documents, specifications, schedules, budgets, project procedures, inspection/testing requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality requirements. Coordinate with Field Engineering, Design, General Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering design documents, vendor documents, RFIs, field changes, constructability issues, and technical requirements affecting concrete work. Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Extensive knowledge of concrete construction, including formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, anchor bolts, foundations, slabs, walls, placements, curing, protection, finishing, inspection, testing, and acceptance requirements. Demonstrated ability to lead multiple Concrete Superintendents, large concrete field organizations, Craft Professionals, and subcontractors in a schedule-driven project environment. Ability to plan and execute concrete work using installation work packages, short-interval planning, workface readiness, quantity tracking, productivity monitoring, material readiness, and Advanced Work Packaging principles. Working knowledge of project controls, including progress reporting, installed quantities, cost trends, schedule performance, productivity analysis, forecast inputs, and recovery planning. Ability to read and apply drawings, specifications, vendor data, inspection requirements, test requirements, applicable codes and standards, field changes, RFIs, and constructability requirements. Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills with a commitment to safe, quality work and effective coordination with all project shareholders.
