Behind every great customer experience is a strong technology team, and we're looking for a Software Engineer who wants to help us build and improve the digital solutions that power XXL. As part of our in-house IT team, you'll work across the entire technology stack, developing everything from customer-facing e-commerce solutions to internal applications, integrations and automation. This is an opportunity to work with modern technologies, influence technical decisions and contribute to scalable solutions that make a real impact across the business. About the role As a Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving both frontend and backend solutions across XXL's digital platforms. Working closely with developers, architects and business stakeholders, you'll contribute to everything from new features and integrations to infrastructure improvements and long-term technical development. We value developers who are curious, pragmatic and passionate about building robust, secure and scalable solutions. What you'll be doing As part of the development team, you'll:

Develop new functionality across frontend, backend, infrastructure and integrations

Improve and maintain our e-commerce platform and internal applications

Build, maintain and optimise APIs and integrations between different systems

Contribute to architecture discussions and technical decision-making

Improve performance, scalability, security and cost efficiency across our platforms

Design and maintain event-driven integrations, scheduled jobs, queue-based processing and synchronous/asynchronous system flows

Debug and monitor distributed systems using logs, metrics and monitoring tools

Work with CI/CD pipelines, deployments and multiple development environments

Reduce technical debt and continuously improve code quality and maintainability

Collaborate with the development team to continuously improve ways of working and engineering best practices

Who we're looking for We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and building high-quality solutions that last. You likely have:

At least 3 years of experience in a similar Software Engineer role

Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript development

Strong knowledge of React and Node.js

Experience building frontend and backend applications using modern web technologies

Experience working with REST APIs, integrations and API contracts

Experience with serverless architectures and cloud-based solutions

Good understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing

Experience working with NoSQL databases

Experience with Git, code reviews and collaborative software development

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment processes

Knowledge of application security, authentication, authorization and IAM

You communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing. Swedish or Norwegian language skills are a plus

It's an advantage if you also have experience with:

Next.js

AWS services such as DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, ECS, API Gateway, Cognito or CloudFront

Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/CDK)

GraphQL

Cypress or Playwright

Web performance optimisation

CSS, SASS, component libraries and Figma

AI tools, automation and emerging technologies

E-commerce platforms and digital retail
