Senior Wellbeing Practitioner – Safeguarding Wellbeing and Mental Health Are you an experienced practitioner with strong knowledge and experience of safeguarding wellbeing and mental health? Are you confident supporting the assessment and management of complex situations involving vulnerability, serious wellbeing concerns and safeguarding risk? We are looking for an experienced Wellbeing Practitioner to join our Safeguarding Team and play a key role in strengthening how we identify, assess and respond to complex wellbeing and safeguarding concerns. This is a specialist role requiring strong professional knowledge and/or experience across safeguarding, mental health and wellbeing. You will provide expert advice and guidance to support colleagues communicating with individuals who may be experiencing significant mental health difficulties or vulnerabilities, including situations where there may be concerns relating to self-harm, suicidal ideation or increased risk of harm. The role & Impact The role will be instrumental in the development of a wellbeing service for registrants within our Fitness to Practice processes by providing structure and pathways for referrals, escalation and developing safety plans for regulatory colleagues to reduce and manage wellbeing risks. Working as part of the Safeguarding Team, you will provide specialist advice and support on complex wellbeing and safeguarding matters and help colleagues make safe, proportionate and person-centred decisions. You will use your safeguarding and mental health expertise to assess complex information, identify risk and protective factors, advise on appropriate risk management and safety planning, and support liaison with external health, mental health and safeguarding professionals where required. You will also help us further develop our approach to supporting people experiencing complex mental health and wellbeing concerns within our regulatory processes. A key part of the role will be promoting trauma-informed, person-centred approach, ensuring that our approach considers an individual's circumstances, vulnerabilities, communication needs and any reasonable adjustments that may be required. What you’ll bring We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong safeguarding and mental health knowledge and/or significant relevant practice experience. You will have recent experience working in a clinical, safeguarding, mental health, wellbeing, social care setting, or experience managing a service supporting people with these needs. Strong knowledge and practical experience of safeguarding children and adults at risk. Good knowledge and/or experience of working with people experiencing complex mental health and wellbeing concerns. Confidence in assessing and responding to risk, vulnerability and complex safeguarding situations. An understanding of self-harm, suicidal ideation and approaches to reducing and managing risk. Knowledge of relevant safeguarding, mental health and mental capacity legislation and best practice. An understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice. Supervision knowledge , experience and confidence to support colleagues with challenging and sensitive work. The ability to analyse complex and sometimes sensitive information and provide clear, evidence-based professional advice. Experience of working collaboratively with professionals across health, mental health, safeguarding and/or social care services. The confidence to professionally challenge, escalate concerns and contribute to difficult decisions where there may be significant risks to an individual's safety or wellbeing. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex safeguarding and mental health information into clear, practical advice for colleagues. This is a two-year fixed-term contract.
