Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Niceville is looking for a Veterinary Technician Assistant / Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team . If you have a foundation in veterinary medicine and want to build your skills in Emergency Medicine, patient care, and Veterinary Technician responsibilities , we want to meet you. This is a hands-on opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant, Veterinary Technician Assistant, or developing Veterinary Technician who is ready to take on additional responsibility while continuing to learn and grow. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include direct patient care, nursing support, patient monitoring, treatment-area support, and assisting the veterinary team with emergency and hospitalized patients. Previous Emergency or Critical Care experience is not required. We are interested in candidates with a strong foundation in veterinary medicine who are dependable, comfortable with hands-on patient care, and motivated to develop their technical skills. As a Veterinary Technician Assistant / Veterinary Technician, you will support the care of emergency and hospitalized patients while working alongside our Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians. Your responsibilities may include: Provide daily care for hospitalized and emergency patients, including feeding and watering according to established care instructions Walk dogs and provide regular bathroom breaks as directed Monitor patients closely and report changes in condition, behavior, appetite, elimination, or other concerns Assist with safe patient handling, restraint, and transportation Assist Veterinary Technicians with patient-care needs, treatments, and other clinical responsibilities as directed Maintain patients in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment Clean and disinfect kennels, treatment areas, and other patient-care spaces Change soiled bedding and maintain appropriate patient hygiene Maintain laundry, linens, medical supplies, and patient-care areas Keep treatment areas, kennels, and supply areas clean, organized, and properly stocked Follow hospital safety, isolation, sanitation, and infection-control protocols Communicate patient updates, outstanding tasks, and concerns clearly to the incoming shift Take initiative to identify additional tasks that need to be completed once assigned responsibilities are finished Work collaboratively with the veterinary team to support efficient patient care and daily hospital operations Maintain professional, respectful, and compassionate interactions with coworkers, clients, and patients Veterinary Technician Skills & Opportunities to Grow As you gain experience and demonstrate proficiency, there are opportunities to take on more advanced Veterinary Technician responsibilities and continue developing your clinical skillset through hands-on training, mentorship, and continued learning. Depending on your current experience and level of training, you may have opportunities to develop skills in: Patient intake, triage, and vital signs Venipuncture and blood collection IV catheter placement Medication administration and treatments Anesthesia monitoring and recovery In-house laboratory diagnostics Digital radiology and imaging Surgical and emergency procedure support Hospitalized and critical-care patient monitoring Emergency and critical-care nursing
