About this role
The Consultant Engineer/Scientist (Environmental Approvals) position is responsible for professionally and efficiently undertaking environmental management and environmental approvals tasks. The role has a strong project orientation and contributes to the team in which it operates. Under supervision from more senior employees, undertakes initial professional technical tasks. Operates within practices and procedures covered by precedents or well-defined policies. Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment. Acquires training and broadens experience to become qualified for more senior responsibilities. Attends/completes relevant professional training. Works with more senior technical specialists in the areas of environmental approvals, environmental management and project management. May also work with and assist technical specialists in other related disciplines. Perform project management including costing, scheduling, managing budget, scope and team of relevant projects. Conduct client management activities and represent clients as required during regulator liaison. Adheres to quality, safety and environmental procedures/standards. Adheres to internal company policy and procedures/systems. Basic knowledge of relevant software, systems and processes. Basic understanding of innovation and application of opportunities to current role. May lead or work as part of a project team to deliver projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements. May undertake other specific tasks including supporting and contributing to: Environmental impact and/or feasibility assessments. Environmental management plans. Environmental risk assessments. Environmental planning and auditing. Preparing and lodging environmental approval applications, including liaison with regulators, local government and/or other relevant stakeholders. Developing knowledge of environmental policies and strategic thinking in the context of environmental approvals. Preparing reports associated with the above. Assisting and supporting on bids/tenders. In addition to these duties, the post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required, from time to time, to achieve the above role purpose.
