We are looking for an experienced Estates Electrical Technician to join our Estates team and play a key role in maintaining a safe, reliable and effective hospital environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrical technician with strong installation and maintenance experience who enjoys working in a demanding environment and takes pride in delivering high-quality technical services.
Main duties of the job
As an Estates Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out a broad range of electrical installation, maintenance, testing and repair work across the hospital.
Working as part of the Estates team, you will help minimise equipment failures and disruption by undertaking effective planned preventative maintenance, diagnostics and reactive repairs. You will work across both new and existing electrical installations and provide technical support to colleagues and contractors where required.

Job description Job responsibilities
Assist the Estates management team in overall operational management of estates fabric and maintenance works, both reactive and planned. Be the first point to assist the 08 bleep holder/duty manager in any unforeseen emergency events such as fire, flood, power outrage and any other H&S incidents. Arrange and manage service interruptions in conjunction with other key staff within the hospital to ensure all contingencies have been identified and covered, supported by risk assessments, COSHH, method statements and the permit to work systems. Follow estates protocols on troubleshooting any technical issues and also calling emergency services, contractors, escalation to management. Assist the Estates management in reducing the risk of failure of critical equipment and downtime. Maintain close liaison and effective communication paths with departmental heads, service/ward managers on all aspects of maintenance and repair.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Minimum City & Guilds level 3/ONC in a Mechanical Discipline or equivalent Recognised trade qualification Previous experience of working in an Estates maintenance role Previous experience of working in an acute hospital setting and/or a large complex public or high specification building Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings, various schematics Ability to undertake shift working and lone working including night shifts Knowledge of the Health & Safety at Works Act, COSHH
