About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated HCA with strong communication skills and relevant experience to join our ward team.

Ward ANU is a 23-bedded Acute Neurological Unit, with additional 3 single rooms for video telemetry seizure monitoring. We have recently opened a 4-trolley Neurological Ambulatory Care Unit (NACU), operating as a 9am-5pm day case unit. ANU forms part of the Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre at Salford Royal.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a team with vision, drive, and ambition. We are looking for a highly motivated nurse who shares our values and is committed to delivering high-quality care. You should have extensive post-registration experience, and ideally, previous nursing management experience. Experience in Neurosciences is desirable but not essential.

A passion for delivering excellent patient and family care, alongside a commitment to continuous improvement, is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key, as is the ability to demonstrate effective leadership throughout the recruitment process.

You must be able to motivate staff to achieve high standards and work collaboratively to ensure the organisation's goals are met.

Main duties of the job You will support the nursing staff and provide excellent patient care whilst maintaining the trust values at every opportunity. Some of your duties will include

Supporting patients with their activities of daily living Assist and support with personal hygiene needs whilst promoting independence Support preparing and escorting patients having tests done Timely clinical interventions: venepuncture, cannulation, ECG, collecting blood products, gathering equipment for nursing interventions, physiological observations Prepare and transfer patients and organise transport out of hours Prepare clinical area for new patients and support admissions Support bed moves within the clinical area. Educate new staff on ward processes Actively support mandatory training; undertaking train the trainer Support the ward with maintaining patient safety during treatment and post infusion observation times Support individualised patient care; reviewing qualit

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G) NVQ level 3 in healthcare or a level 3 Senior healthcare worker Apprenticeship Care Certificate

Knowledge, Training & Experience Essential

Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting Experience of working within a team

Desirable

Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)

Skills & Abilities Essential

Good communication (written and verbal skills) Basic IT skills Good organisational skills
