Theatre Support Worker (Band 2) Kidderminster Treatment Centre

Join our team as a Theatre Support Worker in our busy Day Surgery Unit at Kidderminster Treatment Centre to deliver a wide range of surgery including; Gynae, General, Laparoscopic Surgery, Maxilla-Facial, Oral Surgery, Trauma, Orthopaedic, Vascular and ENT.
You will provide valuable support to our theatre teams demonstrating our trust values of openness and honesty, ensuring that people feel cared for and showing respect to everyone.
You will join our team directly involved in patient care including escorting patients, communicating important information, circulating for scrub teams, safe handling of specimens, management of sterile equipment, using IT platforms to document, and more.
You will be supported to achieve competencies within the role.We are committed to staff to development and have great opportunities for career progression with clear development pathways. You will attend the Trusts Induction Programme at one of our education centres at the Royal Worcester or Alexandra Hospitals.
Full time posts are 37.5hours (4 days) per week Monday to Saturday with part-time and flexible working options considered.

Main duties of the job
This role provides vital support and assistance to the professionally qualified staff and will work under their direction and supervision to help in maintaining an environment conducive to the delivery and maintenance of a high standard of patient care
To assist the qualified staff in providing high quality nursing care, treatments and procedures directly to patients
To participate as a team member in a range of clinical and non-clinical tasks and responsibilities undertaken by theatre support workers
To guide and support less experienced theatre support workers, students and newly qualified theatre staff within the scope of their role of theatre support worker

Support qualified staff in delivering high-quality patient care and maintaining a safe, effective environment, working under their guidance and supervision.
Assist qualified staff in providing high-quality care, treatments, and procedures to patients.
Participate as a team member in various clinical and non-clinical tasks within the theatre support role.
Guide and support less experienced support workers, students, and newly qualified theatre staff within the scope of the Theatre Support Worker role.
Key Duties:
Complete required documentation, including theatre records, cleaning logs, and specimen records.
Prepare patients and the operating environment for clinical activities under professional direction.
Facilitate communication with patients, relatives, colleagues, and visitors.
Assist with patient transfers, ensuring safety, dignity, and comfort.
Monitor and report patient conditions to the appropriate team members.
Support stock rotation, equipment care, and efficient resource use.
Assist with applying tourniquets, diathermy ground plates, and other equipment.
Respond promptly to clinical emergencies as directed.
Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
Dispose of waste following trust policies and report faults to the team leader.
Greet and direct visitors, answer bleeps, and answer telephone calls professionally.
Participate in meetings, training, and development activities.
Report incidents, accidents, or complaints to the manager and via the Datix system.
Adhere to all trust policies to ensure a safe and effective work environment.
General duties:

Standard Clauses:
The purpose of this post should remain constant, but the duties and responsibilities may vary over time within the overall role and level of the post. Records Management:

Employees should consult their manager if they have any doubt as to the correct management of records with which they work.
Health and Safety:
Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed on them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and the Manual Handling Operations Regulations (1992) and all relevant Trust Health and Safety Policies and Guidance. This ensures that the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for employees, patients, and visitors to the Trust.
Infection Control:
Employees must accept personal responsibility and accountability for Infection Prevention and Control practice. Employees should ensure they are familiar with, and comply with, all relevant Infection Control policies for minimising the risk of avoidable Health Care Associated Infection. All Employees must undertake annual mandatory updates in Infection Control.
Non-Smoking Policy:
The Trusts approach to smoking is in line with the governments ongoing initiatives for an eventual smoke-free environment. It aims to adhere to the Worcestershire Health Community Campaign to help Worcestershire stop smoking.
Risk Management:
It is a standard element of the role and responsibility of all employees of the Trust that they fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, taking appropriate actions, and reporting all incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly. It is a contractual obligation that all employees must cooperate with any investigations undertaken.
