Job summary
Supervised by the senior technician in charge, the post holder will provide support services to the Pharmacy department, including the ordering, receipt, storage and supply of Pharmaceuticals and other stocks.
This role offers a Monday - Friday 9-5 work schedule
Main duties of the job

Analytical and Planning
Following the daily rota you will need to be able to organize and plan your day to maximise the best use of time.
Distribution
Take part in the Pharmacy ward top-up service: Print ward stock lists to a schedule, check ward and department stock of Pharmaceuticals against an agreed list and order required items.
Liaise with ward staff, ward Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician to ensure ward stock lists are kept up to date.
Process ward stock orders including top-up orders and telephone requests, using the WELLSKY computer system, pick and package orders for delivery
Process, pick and package requisitions from other areas within Pharmacy e.g., Carlingford Centre.
Monitor and maintain stock in the Emergency drug cupboard
Perform the daily top up of the main Pharmacy department.
Assist with the recording and storage of archive material.
Perform departmental stock checks, counting and reconciliation
Supply orders of Pharmaceuticals to community clinics and GP surgeries according to departmental procedure. Answer and deal with telephone enquiries from customers relating to orders.

Stores
Maintain supplies of non-drug items e.g. stationary using the EROS purchasing computer system, including ordering, receipting and stock checking
Receive deliveries and book in orders of pharmaceuticals and other stocks.
Assist in the resolution of order discrepancies, identification of late and outstanding orders and return of stock to suppliers.
Process computer receipts of orders (ODELIVing)
Maintain EAN numbers on JAC Pharmacy computer system
Maintain supplier performance database
Put goods away maintaining an efficient stock rotation system.
Unload and put away bulk deliveries of large volume fluids and containers
Deliver Pharmaceuticals to wards and departments when required.
Maintain a clean and tidy workplace.
Using the hospital pharmacy computer system: - Order pharmaceuticals and other goods
Release orders to suppliers by agreed mechanisms
Receive delivered goods
Pass invoices for payment
Process credits and chase outstanding payments
Purchase medical gases; maintain full stock records as required and process invoices.
Order and receipt non-pharmaceutical goods using the EROS computer system
Investigate and resolve queries on orders, goods receipts and invoices, referring to the Senior Technician when necessary.
Liaise with other Pharmacy staff to ensure that correct ordering procedures are adhered to, and support other staff in maintaining correct stock control procedures.
Maintain supplier catalogues using the Pharmacy electronic ordering system (Powergate)
Implement purchase contract arrangements and amendments necessary.
1. Clinical Duties
Sort and distribute incoming departmental post
Take appointments for the Procurement Pharmacist, and undertake secretarial duties as necessary
File hard copy orders and other related documents, Maintain archive records
File other Pharmacy literature and documents as required
Follow departmental Standard Operational Procedures at all times.
Undertake any other reasonable duties the Senior Technician Purchasing, Senior Technician Distribution or Principal Pharmacist Patient Services may allocate from time to time.

Ensure the safe and secure storage of Pharmacy stock of drugs and other materials
Order and receipt stock.

Update and maintain own skills and knowledge as necessary
Demonstrate duties to less experienced staff e.g., new members of staff, Student Pharmacy Technicians
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Good Standard of basic Maths and English
Desirable
Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council under the relevant units of NVQ level 2 for Pharmacy Assistants, or the ability to attain these units after a period of in-house training.
Knowledge Essential
Minimum six months experience in a role that required following strict guidelines and procedures Previous experience of team working
