Would you like to bring your skills to our supportive, innovative, high achieving public health dietetic team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board?

This is an exiting opportunity to lead dietetic projects within a supportive multiagency partnership steering group, to improve population health.

This post will lead services using a whole-system approach, co-designing solutions that reflect lived experience and the complex drivers influencing population health outcomes.

You will be responsible for ensuring a quality and outcome focussed dietetic service for the health board population, delivering against key project performance indicators.

Posts will be managed by our Public Health Dietetic Professional Manager who will provide regular supervision sessions. Staff will lead the supervision and development of a range of junior staff and students.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on the planning, delivery and evaluation of healthy lifestyle programmes across the University Health Board

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to communicate in Welsh during routine clinical situations, such as welcoming patients, discussing straightforward aspects of their care and answering routine questions. If you're comfortable holding everyday conversations in Welsh, we encourage you to apply. Person Specification

Qualifications and/or Knowledge Essential

BSc. Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent. Evidence of clinical supervision. Evidence of or qualification in research and audit. Health and Care Professions Council registration (HCPC). Clinical Educators Course. Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice. Detailed specialist knowledge of public health interventions, policies and practices MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge and advanced post graduate training/experience in specialist clinical dietetics. Knowledge of audit and research and its application to acute nutrition support. Behaviour modification training or motivational interviewing training and or skills. Teaching qualification. Evidence of professional development.

Desirable

Project management qualification. Member of BDA specialist group or equivalent specialist interest group. Welsh Speaking and Listening Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are Desirable for this Role.

Experience Essential

Experience at a senior level across a variety of settings. Considerable experience with dietetic delivery of community interventions. Demonstrates evidence based specialist public health knowledge. Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver individual, team and organisational objectives. Experience of conducting audit and or research. Experience of clinical supervision of students and junior staff. Experience of organising and implementing training programmes for staff, patients and students. Practical experience of lecturing/teaching. Presentations to large groups or at conferences. Experience of managing projects. Experience at evaluating services and collating reports to update stakeholders.

Aptitude and Abilities Skills Essential

Demonstrates highly developed motivational and negotiating skills to effect change. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to gather, assimilate, appropriately apply and present complex data information. An ability to communicate complex information to NHS colleagues and partners in external organisations at a national and international level Clinical supervision skills. Demonstrates critical appraisal skills. Presentation skills and ability to work effectively single handed with individuals and groups over 20 people. Ability to focus on research and project objectives and to deliver on these. Able to maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders. Able to reflect and appraise own performance and that of others. Skills in influencing and persuasion on specialist clinical issues with a wide range of staff and internal and external to the UHB. Ability to carry out accurate anthropometric measurements. Keyboard skills - data inputting, word processing, internet and dietary analysis. Adequate dexterity to set up intricate equipment and demonstrate usage of same e.g. enteral feeding pumps Able to deal appropriately with distressed patients and staff.
