Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Registered Nursing Associate at our Older People's mental health inpatient ward for adults 65 and over admitted for assessment with an organic mental health diagnosis.
Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate that they can work as part of a team, have very good communication and organisational skills and have a collective approach to managing risk, complex clinical presentations and crisis situations. Applicants are required to have the nursing associate qualification.
Working hours are shifts consisting of Early, Late, Long Day and Nights although currently, our nursing associates do not work night shifts.
Main duties of the job
The registered Nursing Associate will work as part of the Nursing workforce supporting Registered Nurses to deliver high quality, person centred, compassionate care to patients. They will be part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering planned care to a group of patients working within the standards of proficiency outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and in accordance with Trust policies and protocols. They will demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide support/ guidance to less experienced staff/ learners within the clinical environment as needed and delegate care if appropriate To supervise/support identified healthcare assistants To promote the health and wellbeing of patients

Qualifications Essential
Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register Nursing Associate foundation degree
Desirable
Evidence of continued professional development documented through Trust PDR/KSF/Supervision processes and personal portfolio
Knowledge Essential
A good understanding of Mental Health Primary Care Awareness of national and local policies/legislation relevant to the clinical area Knowledge of physical health co-morbidities effecting the patient group Knowledge of basic assessments, including risk and the ability to identify needs and care planning Demonstrates understanding of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing interdisciplinary team, and organisation and how this may contribute to service development
Desirable
Understanding or application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area
Experience Essential
Demonstrable experience of working within the service area Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team Experience of providing and receiving complex sensitive information.
Desirable
Previous experience working of working with patients and primary care.
