Job summary

Are you looking for a new challenge in a rewarding environment? The Imaging Department at Good Hope Hospital (part of UHB NHS Trust Birmingham) have vacancies for Imaging Department Assistants to join their busy, friendly team.

Radiology provides a wide range of imaging investigations within various imaging modalities, including plain film, MRI, CT, and Ultrasound.

Applicants must have NVQ Level 2 or equivalent Trust based competency.

Previous clinical experience in a healthcare setting is desirable.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work and be able to work varied shifts across a 7-day week rota, with an expectation to provide cover for other Imaging Support Workers absences to meet service needs.

The Imaging Department Assistant will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team involved in the provision of a patient centred imaging service.

The post holder will assist radiographic and other qualified staff in maintaining the patient environment to the highest standard and ensuring patient movement to and from the examination rooms is carried out safely, efficiently and in a dignified manner. Where appropriate, will assist clinical members during radiological examinations and procedures.

In line with service needs, may be required to provide clerical support including reception duties, attending patients on arrival and telephone enquiries.

The post holder will be required to gain knowledge and skills to meet the Occupational Standards relevant to the post.

Main duties of the job

To liaise with radiographers and with reference to prioritising patients.

To assist and support Radiographers, assistant practitioners and Radiologists when undertaking imaging examinations of patients.

To communicate with patients and carers in difficult circumstances. To be able to persuade and encourage patients in a tactful manner.

To ring wards and organise patient's visits to the department, and to communicate with portering staff. To contact and liaise with transport when arranging for out patients to return home.

Qualifications Essential

* Meets Trust numeracy and literacy test requirements. * NVQ 2 or equivalent Trust based competency.

Desirable

* Care Certificate * IV Cannulation.

Experience Essential

* Evidence of working with the General Public * All job-related training will be provided.

* Good communication skills * Basic IT skills * Uses initiative and discretion. * Exhibits leadership, personal authority and desire to perform well. * Possesses the ability to create a wellmotivated team. * Demonstrates the capacity to maintain a professional) and courteous conduct in difficult/contentious situations. * Keen to learn and able to use own initiative.
