About this role

Job summary Our unit is a dedicated day surgery service within the Dental Institute, comprising of a ward area for pre and post operative care, Anaesthetic room, theatre, recovery room and pre-assessment office

We are a small but welcoming and supportive multidisciplinary team comprising of ODPs, Registered Nurses, Dental Nurses, Support workers and administrative colleagues. We work closely with other departments across the LDI and the wider LGI theatre teams.

Every day brings variety with different surgical lists and patient groups. We also have dedicated paediatric operating lists twice a week, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your confidence and experience caring for children as well as adults.

We are committed to supporting our staff to develop both personally and professionally and training and ongoing support will be provided. There are also opportunities to learn new skills, undertake projects and take on additional responsibilities such as staff champion and key trainer roles

You will be joining a team that works collaboratively, supports one another and is committed to providing safe, compassionate and high quality care to our patients

The team also likes to arrange social events, and staff health and well being is high on our list of priorities. There is always cakes and goodies to help through the day.

Main duties of the job We are seeking a highly motivated and Compassionate ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse to join our friendly and dedicated small team within the One Day Unit Theatres at Leeds Dental Institute

You will become part of a supportive, collaborative multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality perioperative care to patients undergoing day case oral surgery procedures. The successful applicant will work 37.5 hrs per week over 4 days Monday to Friday , the shifts are 10hrs with one of those being 7.hhrs

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will support patients through their entire day case journey . Your responsibilities will include, working within anaesthetics and theatres undertaking both scrub and circulating duties, supporting first stage recovery and working within the ward area from admission through to discharge

The One Day Unit is a dedicated Day Surgery service situated within the Leeds Dental Institute. We care for a diverse range of patients from children aged 3 years through to adults undergoing minor oral surgery procedures under GA/IV sedation

What you will bring to the role As a perioperative Practitioner the successful candidate will work within an environment that provides care for pre, peri and post operative care for both adults and paediatrics

They will provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development , implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for all patients ensuring accurate written and electronic records are kept

They will be able to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision

They will be able to assist with teaching and supervision of learners and other staff from all disciplines

They should act in accordance with the professional code of conduct
