Salaried GP - Lonsdale Medical Centre

A highly-rated, growing training practice is looking for a Salaried GP to join our team.

About us Lonsdale is an award-winning, forward-thinking training practice in Brent NW6, with excellent transport links. We are a large practice with 19,500 patients, supported by a full multidisciplinary team of GPs, nurses, HCAs and pharmacists a physio, dietician, social prescriber, employment support. We have are tech driven, with total triage in place to keep clinical work focused and manageable, no duty rota, no unbooked home visits (apart from a session visit list)

We have strong in-house clinical expertise to learn from and work alongside, including child health (one of our GPs is the Brent ICS lead for child health), mental health, baby clinics, and minor surgery. We are also part of an excellent PCN network of practices offering peer support, shared learning, and clear routes for career progression.

Main duties of the job

The role is for three days a week across six sessions and must include Fridays The workload is approximately fifteen patients per three hour clinical session with dedicated administrative time for the remainder of the session There is a low administrative workload supported by our total triage system with physician associates and pharmacists completing the majority of this work We offer a genuine training environment with the option to train if accredited or support to become a trainer The role includes the NHS Pension Scheme state indemnity cover study leave and CPD support We have a supportive forward-thinking team with twice-weekly clinical meetings for peer support and case discussion Our award-winning community cafe has an on-site micro bakery We also hold regular community events including a weekly knitting group Our approach to patient care has received awards You are welcome to meet the team or complete a locum session with us before deciding whether the role is right for you

Job description Job responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

a. The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b. The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

c. Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

d. Effective management of long-term conditions

e. Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

f. On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles

g. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

h. Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

i. Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

j. Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

k. Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

l. Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

m. Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

n. Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

o. Prepare and complete the revalidation process

p. Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

q. Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

r. Support the partners in achieveing the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

s. Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times

t. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times

Secondary Responsibilities

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

a. Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead

b. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

c. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Qualified GP MRCGP Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT) Full GMC Registration National Performers List registration Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU) Eligibility to practice in the UK independently Experience of working in a primary care environment Experience of continued professional development Experience of QOF and clinical audit Minimum of two years as a salaried GP General understanding of the GMS contract Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Strong IT skills Clear, polite telephone manner Competent in the use of Office and Outlook EMIS Web Effective time management (Planning & Organising) Ability to work as a team member and autonomously Excellent interpersonal skills Problem solving & analytical skills Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure Experience with audit and able to lead audit programmes Experience with clinical risk management Polite and confident Flexible and cooperative Motivated, forward thinker Problem solver with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required High levels of integrity and loyalty Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations Ability to work under pressure / in stressful situations Effectively able to communicate and understand the needs of the patient Commitment to ongoing professional development Effectively utilises resources Punctual and committed to supporting the team effort Flexibility to work outside of core office hours Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check Occupational Health Clearance Project lead as required with CQC, CCG and QOF
