Job summary
Library Assistant - 35 hours per week
This role will work across two NHS organisations - Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The role will be hosted by Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and therefore, whilst working across two sites for both organisations, your employment contract will be with Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The duties will be the same at each Trust.
Knowledge and Library Services (KLS) facilitate access to the most up-to-date and relevant healthcare information. This enables high quality, evidence-based decision-making in patient care, personal development for our colleagues and research innovation activity across our trusts. This role is based in the library at each hospital site and involves all aspects of working on a library enquiry desk.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be the first point of contact for library users, both in-person and online. You will work with a small, highly motivated KLS team to provide exceptional customer service to NHS colleagues ensuring they can access the information they need. You will play a key role in promoting the library service and resources, raising awareness within the trusts and encouraging their use, with the end goal of improving patient care. You will be a strong communicator who is confident and can communicate well with a broad range of colleagues, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The post holder will provide administrative support for the team and carry out duties such as book ordering and processing. Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
5 GSCEs including Maths and English at grade 4 or equivalent. Demonstrably high standard of literacy and numeracy.
Desirable
Degree level education in any subject. ECDL or similar IT qualification.
Experience Essential
Experience of delivering customer care. Ability to work effectively both alone and as part of a team. Experience of administration duties.
Desirable
Experience of working in a library/information environment. Marketing or communications experience. Use of online databases and administrative systems.
Knowledge and Skills Essential
Ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines. Excellent IT skills. Confident using the internet and Microsoft Office. Willingness to learn new IT applications. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to communicate effective both verbally and in writing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well under pressure and with frequent interruptions from users. Good team worker, willingness to contribute to team objectives.
Desirable
