Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Learning Disability Nurse to join the Children's and Young People's Learning Disability Team in Leeds. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting and advocating for children/young people with a Learning Disability and their families.
You will join a small passionate and supportive multidisaplinary team including learning disability nurse, psychiatrist, psychologist, mental health clinician and learning disabilty assitant. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and transferable skills in a supportive team environment and make a difference to the lives of Children and Young People in Leeds.
The Childrens and Young Peoples Learning Disability Team is part of the Children and Young People's Mental Health service (CYPMHS) and the role will include interface and liaison with the wider CYPMHS service as well as external organisations such as Social care and Education.
Main duties of the job As a learning disability nurse, you will provide specialist assessment and intervention to meet the needs of young people with a moderate to severe learning disability. Working closely with young people, parents/carers, education, social care and a variety of settings for example to formulate, produce, implement and monitor a Positive Behaviour Support plan.
Working alongside psychiatry and psychology within the team and occupational therapy and speech and language within the school setting, to ensure a person-centred approach. The Learning Disabilty Team also work closely with the Dynamic Support Register for children and young people who are at risk of hospital admission and or family placement breakdown.
You will receive robust supervision, participate in multi-disciplinary case review and management within a supportive, friendly and experienced team.
