Job Title: Site EHS CoordinatorJob DescriptionThe Site EHS Coordinator plays a key role in implementing and maintaining environmental, health, and safety (EHS) systems at an active construction or manufacturing site. This position supports the EHS Manager and site supervision by delivering safety training, monitoring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, conducting audits and inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture. The role combines hands-on site presence with administrative responsibilities such as documentation, reporting, and supporting incident investigations. Responsibilities • Provide comprehensive site safety orientation training and other required site-specific training to employees and contractors. • Collect, manage, and maintain training certifications for all employees and contractors working onsite. • Ensure project compliance with applicable local occupational health and safety regulations and laws. • Communicate daily with installation site management and supervision on EHS issues, concerns, and corrective actions. • Participate in project meetings and proactively address safety issues raised during discussions. • Report safety deviations from other trades and customer employees that could pose a risk of injury to personnel. • Perform multiple daily walk-throughs of the site to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and improvement opportunities. • Conduct safety observations and audits and document findings in a clear and timely manner. • Inspect site emergency response equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits, according to established schedules. • Assist the site supervisor and workers in conducting job-specific risk assessments and implementing appropriate controls. • Support the site supervisor in conducting thorough incident investigations and identifying root causes. • Upload safety audits, inspection reports, and incident investigation documentation into Gensuite or other designated systems. • Follow up on safety corrective actions resulting from audits and incidents to ensure timely closure and sustained compliance. • Conduct or assist the Site Supervisor with daily safety toolbox talks and weekly safety talks to crews. • Maintain all EHS forms onsite and ensure the EHS site board remains current, accurate, and in good condition. • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and proper waste management in the project trailer and surrounding work areas. • Provide first aid as needed within the scope of training or promptly seek medical assistance for all injuries. • Support the site supervisor in updating timesheets for the mechanical installation crew and submitting them to the approving manager at the end of each week. Essential Skills • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as an EHS Coordinator in construction or manufacturing environments, preferably with a focus on environmental aspects. • Demonstrated experience in construction safety, including site safety coordination and compliance with health and safety laws. • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations and best practices. • Experience leading or implementing activities to comply with ISO standards is considered a strong asset. • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for documentation and reporting. • Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and observations and to document findings clearly and accurately. • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with site management, supervisors, and workers on EHS matters. • Ability to participate in and contribute to project meetings, safety talks, and toolbox talks. • Organizational skills to manage training records, certifications, EHS forms, and documentation in a systematic way. • Capability to assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up. • Comfort working in construction or manufacturing environments and performing frequent site walk-throughs. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with environmental management processes and systems is preferred. • Experience supporting or implementing ISO-based management systems is a plus. • Familiarity with Gensuite or similar EHS management software is an advantage. • Ability to speak French or Spanish is a nice-to-have asset for communicating with diverse crews. • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving safety issues. • Ability to work collaboratively within an EHS team and build positive relationships with site personnel. Work EnvironmentThe Site EHS Coordinator is an integral member of a dedicated EHS team, working closely with the EHS Manager to ensure effective implementation of environmental, health, and safety systems and processes. The role supports compliance with occupational health and environmental legislation across multiple provinces. The team consists of approximately 8–10 EHS professionals distributed across the region, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and mutual support. The position typically follows a night shift schedule from Monday to Saturday, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with the possibility of occasionally working on Sunday and taking Saturday as the off day. Overtime is expected, and the role commonly involves working 60–65 hours per week, with a night shift premium provided. The work model includes a hybrid arrangement, requiring onsite presence for most of the week with 1–2 days per week working from home for administrative and planning tasks. The environment is primarily construction or manufacturing based, requiring frequent movement around active work areas, regular inspections, and interaction with site crews and supervisors. Business casual dress is expected, with appropriate safety and personal protective equipment provided and required while on site. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Mississauga, ON. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
