SRTE Reservoir Surveillance Ops Specialist
Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:: Perform surveillance testing on nuclear weapon stockpile gas transfer systems and provide test data to the weapon design agencies for determining reliability of the US Nuclear Weapon Stockpile. To safely and securely operate reservoir surveillance systems to ensure Reservoir Surveillance Program and organization production goals are met in a safe and environmentally sound matter. This includes adhering to all aspects of operations including safety, disciplined operations, maintenance, health protection, quality assurance, training, and procedure compliance.
Required Qualifications: • Associate's degree in relevant field plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least 1.5 years of experience (YOE) in an applicable role, OR High school diploma plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least three years of experience (YOE) in an applicable role • Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered. May have higher education levels as required by DOE Order 426.2 • Have reservoir handling, gas movement, and glovebox experience. Also, be able to obtain and maintain a Q level security clearance.
We'd Also Like to See: Perform routine facility or area walkdowns, procedure reviews, inspections or evaluations to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility, Be able to operate and monitor complex process functions such as laser functions, valving, pump train operations, pull samples, and understand various distributed control systems. Furthermore, perform various radiological activities within the facilities, including handling of nuclear materials, decontamination of equipment, glovebox work, and others.

Discipline Description: The Reservoir Surveillance Operations Specialist is responsible for conducting surveillance testing on nuclear weapon stockpile gas transfer systems and supplying critical test data to weapon design agencies for nuclear weapons stockpile reliability assessments. Specific operations include Hydroburst, Environmental Conditioning including assembly and disassembly, Sample Assay/ Vacuum Bakeout, and Function Testing. Reservoir Surveillance Operations personnel analyze and interpret electronic and instrumentation data to support weapon design lab requirements. They prepare/review and install/verify lockout/tagout plans, address operations-related technical issues, and develop comprehensive and defensible solutions. They communicate with internal customers, senior management, technical experts, planners, and oversight personnel. Responsibilities include routine facility inspections, operating environmental conditioning systems, handling radiological materials, reviewing and coordinating procedural updates, testing gas transfer systems, evaluating operational performance, handling weapons systems components containing nuclear materials, collecting and measuring gases released by performing gas transfer systems testing, processing collected gases as appropriate, overseeing waste handling, performing precision measurements, and supporting hardware development.

Job Family Description: Nuclear Operations - Nuclear Operations personnel are directly involved in supporting core nuclear activities in the H-Canyon, HB-Line, K-Area, L-Area, E-Area, Deactivation, SRTE, and SRPPF. SOP and Exempt M&O employees must work in one of these facilities and satisfy at least one of the following characteristics: Directly handle and/or produce nuclear material Manage individuals that directly handle and/or produce nuclear material Manage individuals that oversee the handling or production of nuclear materials Perform ancillary operational duties that directly impact safe and secure nuclear operations, which include Lockout/Tagout Coordination, Maintenance Coordination, Outage Coordination, Fire Protection Coordination, Reservoir Surveillance, Waste Certification, Control Room/Facility Lab/Processing, and Gas Processing
