An opportunity has now arisen for an Energy Programs & Incentives Engineer to play a key role in maximizing the value of energy-related grants, incentives, subsidies and funding programs across our EMEA operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an energy professional who combines technical engineering expertise with knowledge of energy regulation, incentives and sustainability. You will help turn ambitious decarbonization and energy-efficiency goals into financially viable projects by identifying funding opportunities, developing strong business cases and managing regulatory submissions and compliance requirements.
Working closely with site leadership, Sustainable Operations Managers, engineering teams, external consultants and regulatory authorities, you will help secure financial support for projects that reduce energy consumption, operating costs and carbon emissions.
Your Responsibilities • Lead and coordinate energy grants, incentives, reliefs and compliance programs across EMEA sites. • Identify and secure funding opportunities for energy efficiency, renewable energy, decarbonization and utility optimization projects. • Prepare and manage applications for electricity price compensation schemes, BesAR, BECV, SPK, Industrial Electricity Price programs and other energy-related incentives. • Support EU ETS, national ETS and carbon reporting, verification and compliance activities including management of regulatory submissions and incentive program obligations. • Maintain and improve ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems and support certification audits. • Monitor energy-intensity KPIs and identify operational inefficiencies and optimization opportunities. • Support the implementation of the company's EMEA decarbonization strategy and site-level decarbonization roadmaps. • Develop techno-economic business cases and support capital investment and project prioritization decisions. • Manage reinvestment obligations, audit responses and regulatory documentation associated with incentive programs. • Monitor changes in energy legislation and assess their impact on operations, costs and funding opportunities. • Conduct energy assessments, audits and Energy Treasure Hunts to identify energy-saving opportunities. • Support energy forecasting, budgeting and utility cost tracking. • Develop analytical tools to identify abnormal energy consumption and operational inefficiencies. • Perform preliminary engineering assessments, including energy balances, thermodynamic evaluations and initial equipment sizing. • Evaluate opportunities involving heat recovery, process optimization, steam and condensate systems, utility efficiency and other energy-saving technologies that improve project economics and sustainability performance. • Act as a secondary holder of critical energy-management and regulatory compliance knowledge.
: Your Profile • BSc or MSc in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering or a related technical discipline. • Good experience in energy engineering, utilities, sustainability or industrial operations. together with experience working with energy incentives, regulatory programs or energy efficiency projects. • Strong understanding of European energy regulations, incentive mechanisms and industrial decarbonization programs. • Knowledge of European energy legislation and industrial energy support mechanisms is highly desirable, particularly within Germany. • Ability to interpret legal requirements and coordinate implementation with external consultants, auditors and authorities. • Experience managing energy grants, subsidies, incentives, tax reliefs, or government funding programs. • Experience with EU ETS, national ETS, carbon reporting, or emissions compliance programs. • Experience with energy management systems and energy efficiency projects. • Experience supporting audits, reporting or regulatory compliance processes. • Proven track record of delivering measurable savings or operational improvements. • Knowledge of ISO 50001 is preferred. • Fluency in English is essential with German language skills a strong advantage. • Travel across the EU region will be required as needed up to 15% of your time.
