Custodian 2nd Shift (12:00pm-8:00pm) Reports To: Principal, Superintendent Compensation: $17.38-$19.89/hour (based on experience) Primary Purpose: Cleaning and Maintenance of Buildings and Grounds Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Successful BCII/FBI background checks
Knowledge of:
• Standard principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in one or more of the custodial and maintenance trades.
• Requirements of maintaining buildings and equipment in safe, clean, and orderly condition.
• Preventive maintenance principles and practices.
• Work hazards and common job safety precautions.
• Safety practices and procedures, health standards, and hazards.
Ability to:
• Demonstrate skill in custodial and maintenance trades position.
• Operate and use the required tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
• Plan, organize, identify and prioritize needs, and solve problems independently as appropriate.
• Work precisely and with attention to detail and perform heavy physical labor without immediate supervision.
• Adapt easily to work assignments, additional priorities, and new procedures.
• Maintain and perform daily work cleaning schedules and other assigned tasks.
• Use computer/technology as appropriate to perform duties.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Perform grounds equipment operation work, including the operation of power mowers and edger's.
• Perform snow removal using equipment.
• Lift and carry supplies and small equipment.
• Operate, inspect, repair, and maintain custodial equipment, including buffers, vacuums, and other tools and machinery used in the performance of custodial duties.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
• stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear.
• reach with hands and arms, squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward, use hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders.
• bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than an average person while performing duties of this job.
• lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (cleaning supplies, pails, loading/unloading trucks).
• push/pull items (tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines).
• operate custodial cart, vacuum cleaners, carpet shampoo machines, floor sander, buffers, and related custodial equipment.
