The Assistant Theatre Director works collaboratively with the Theatre Company Director to ensure the smooth operation and success of the school's theatre program. This position supports all aspects of production—including casting, rehearsals, technical coordination, performance management, and student engagement—while promoting a positive, inclusive, and educational theatre experience. The Assistant Theatre Director helps provide artistic leadership, organizational support, and mentorship for student performers and crew members. Key Responsibilities

Program Support & Leadership Assist the Theatre Company Director in planning, organizing, and executing the theatre season, including plays, musicals, showcases, and special performances. Support in establishing a vision and tone for productions that align with the school's educational mission and artistic goals. Serve as a role model and mentor to students, promoting teamwork, creativity, and professionalism. Rehearsals & Production Help manage rehearsals, ensuring they are well-organized, efficient, and supportive of student learning. Provide coaching and feedback to students on performance technique, stage presence, and character development. Collaborate with technical staff on set design, costumes, props, lighting, and sound needs. Assist in coordinating production schedules, run sheets, and backstage operations. Student & Community Engagement Foster an inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed and encouraged to participate. Support students in developing confidence, responsibility, and artistic skills. Help coordinate communication with parents, staff, and community partners as needed. Contribute to promoting productions through school and community channels. Administrative & Organizational Duties Assist with casting, auditions, and student crew assignments. Help manage program logistics, including rehearsal spaces, equipment, and safety protocols. Step in to assume leadership responsibilities when the Theatre Company Director is unavailable. Qualifications

Previous theatre experience in directing, acting, stage management, or related field. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances. Demonstrated passion for theatre education and student development. Preferred Skills Knowledge of stagecraft, technical theatre, or music theatre production. Experience working with high school students in a theatre or educational setting. Ability to balance creative vision with practical problem-solving. Mission and Values.
