About this role

Job Description: We are seeking ELA educators who are passionate, dedicated, and excited about enacting changes that will improve learning outcomes for all of Barnstable's grades 6 - 12 students through the implementation of our new shared curriculum, HMH Into Literature! This year's ELA Curriculum Implementation Team will serve as a guiding coalition of educators representing diverse perspectives, responsible for driving continuous improvement and serving as leaders among your peers. We are seeking team members who are reflective practitioners, are open to receiving non-evaluative feedback, refining instructional approaches and collaboratively analyzing samples of student work, remain solutions-oriented when faced with challenges, act as teacher-leaders with your colleagues, and those who will serve as change agents committed to the success of this initiative. As a team we will continue to build and share knowledge of best practices for research-informed instruction, support consistent implementation of the new instructional materials, and help to increase instructional coherence by turning new learning over to teacher teams during Common Planning or in Professional Learning Communities. Working Commitments: All Implementation Team members are expected to engage in ten monthly ELA Curriculum Implementation Team meetings taking place after school hours from 4:00-5:30 PM. The following meeting times and formats are tentative and subject to change based on circumstances. Combined in-person and virtual meeting time and asynchronous work time is anticipated to be approximately 25 hours total. All ELA educators are encouraged to apply, including but not limited to members of last year's ELA Curriculum Council. Requirements/Qualifications:

• Must hold a valid MA license.

• Current assignment as a classroom ELA teacher, ELL teacher, or special education teacher at the 6 - 11 level.

• Possess a strong growth mindset, collaborative working style, and commitment to continuous learning.

• Seek to develop leadership skills and has an interest in serving as a peer leader.

• Commit to improving learning outcomes for all BIS and BHS students through strong ELA instruction and the implementation of HMH Into Literature instructional materials
