About this role

Title: Graduation Specialist Department: Migrant Education Classification: Classified Supervised by: Director Wage: $20.43 - $26.88 per hour Work Year: Temporary Position: November 19, 2026 through April 9, 2027 Job Purpose Statement: Provide assistance and support to families of children in grades 8-12. Support high student achievement and parent involvement strategies. Provide information and referrals to families regarding services and resources available to them. Job Qualifications: Education and Experience:

• Two years of satisfactory experience in Education or school/community relations.

• Proven experience in working with children, school staffs, and parents.

• Must hold a current recognized first aid card or be willing to obtain same if directed by the district under ORS 342.664 (2).

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance

• Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability

• Successfully pass district background screening

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of human development and learning, behavior management techniques, and communication techniques

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public

• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of data to assess program efficiency

• Effective interpersonal skills in managing and interacting with diverse groups of stakeholders.

• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Ability to travel between work sites/locations; must provide own reliable transportation.

• Good record keeping skills.

• Knowledge of student supervision, organization and learning abilities; basic math, reading and language skills.

• Computer skills, including word processing, e-mail and Google docs.

• Ability to work with youth and parents from a variety of ethnic, social or educational backgrounds.

• Demonstrated ability to manage conflict through quality decision-making and effective problem solving.

• Ability to handle intense or controversial situations with professionalism.

• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry our detailed and basic written or oral instructions

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents

• Skill in oral and written communication

• Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and school board policies, as well as Oregon law and administrative rule

Essential Job Functions:

• Assists students and their families in understanding school expectations and the benefits of educational experiences for their children.

• Maintains permanent records for students and other paperwork

• Organize, facilitate, present and implement parent involvement activities and trainings.

• Help parents and families feel welcome and actively engaged at the building and classroom level in their child's education.

• Connect parents with education and community resources to improve their own academic skills.

• Develop and implement a monthly schedule of parent support activities and educational opportunities.

• Maintain effective, meaningful and timely two-way communication with students, parents, colleagues, school and department staff.

• Conduct an annual survey to determine parenting needs.

• Comply with professional development activities as required by the ESD and program regulations.

• Maintains the integrity of confidential information relating to a student, family, colleague, or district patron, and uses or relays academic, social, or personal information only in the course of performing assigned responsibilities and in the best interest of the individual involved.

• Performs other duties as may be assigned to support the success of the agency.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
