School Nurse – Policy and Procedure Alignment Project (Grant-Funded, Temporary) Position Summary: The School Nurse will work collaboratively with the Burlington Public Schools (BPS) Nurse Leader to review, update, and/or develop school health procedures that align with current Burlington Public Schools (BPS) policies and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) laws and regulations. This short-term, grant-funded position will support consistency, compliance, and best practices across the district's school health services. Employment Details:

• Funding Source: Grant-funded

• Duration: Up to 50 hours total

• Schedule: Flexible; hours to be completed within the grant timeline as determined by the BPS Nurse Leader

• Reports To: BPS Nurse Leader

Key Responsibilities:

• Review existing Burlington Public Schools health procedures and related documentation.

• Identify areas requiring revision or development to ensure compliance with MDPH laws and regulations.

• Collaborate with the BPS Nurse Leader and other stakeholders to draft and refine updated procedures.

• Ensure that all documents reflect current best practices in school nursing, public health, and student safety.

• Assist in organizing materials and resources to support implementation and staff education.

• Maintain detailed records of work completed and provide updates to the BPS Nurse Leader.

Required:

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

• Certified or eligible for certification as a School Nurse by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in school nursing or public health nursing

Preferred:

• Experience with policy and procedure development

• Familiarity with Burlington Public Schools policies and MDPH school health regulations

• Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills
